the best way is to take a break and review and learn to live on your own for a while. Don't immediately get into a relationship again.

You can't know right off but here are some guidelines:
1) watch her and how she interacts with others.
- get and read "are you the one for me" by Barbara DeAngeles.
2) pay attention to the kind of people she has as friends. - birds of a feather ya know..
3) Do not commit emotionally until you know you can trust her...
4) understand that you must go through some bad apples to find a good one...

1) Be sure that you own your part in why the horrible relationship failed.
2) Zip all baggage.
3) Fill your life with stuff you like to do, you may find someone with similar interests.

Now you know what not to do.
Look for someone who's as different from the previous girl as possible.
Quick two-point personality test:
1. [easy] Does she show any signs of being an evil byatch, a dumb ho, or both?
2. [difficult] Imagine her as a guy, but with all of the same interests and personality traits— would you still want him as a friend?

well, if the relationship was horrible b/c of u, then i would say to just chill for a little while. if the relationship was your partner;s fault, then go find someone else who is just as desparte as u at this piont, or may-b some one who really is lonely.
