My mom just said that she found a hard lump in her breast. She thinks it may be cancer and is going to the doctor tomorrow, but what's weird is she said there was a big bruise there about a week ago, but she doesn't know where it came from? Don't tell me she should go to the Dr. because she is. But what do you think?

I think chances are against the lump being cancerous but it's best to check and be sure. I had a similar phenomena happen to me, but a red hot spot rather than a bruise and it later turned into a lum. It turned out to be a harmess cyst, thank God. But it's always best to have these things checked out. Good for your Mom for responding so quickly! Too many people wait and worry. I've successfully beat cancer twice and I promise you, early detection is the key. I've been cancer free for 22 years now.

It is good she is going to Doctor. To my idea I am very sorry to say that it is cancer and the bruise is also an associated symptom of this disease. She has to be given the usual treatments - 1. Surgery, Chemotherapy and radiation therapy depending on the stage and grade of the disease and the general health condition of your mother. The Oncologist will put her in right treatment methods. Please give full treatment and fight the disease as CANCER IS STILL AN ENIGMA. Best of luck for your mother of a speedy recovery.

the bruise probobly was something different and im glad she is going to the doctor cuz she can get it taken care of before... my grandmother died that way... the bruise is probobly from a fall or if she does sports.... and if she doesnt know where it came from then it mite have something to do with the lump... but i highly doubt it does!

She needs the Dr's exam and breast x ray asap. I am not a Dr and would not venture to guess, anyhow. Good luck to her.

i had a hard lump but i dident have any bruiseing .. mine was cancer

well a breast is made up from fat and nerves. if you hit it hard or pinch it hard it will get a small boil type spot on it and that may be nothing.
