I just got my Kitten a week ago Wednesday. I don't know if I just have a cold or what. I have a stuffy/runny nose, sneezing, and headache. It seems like a normal cold. I started getting sick on Thursday which made a week and a day of having him. My husband got it too but not as bad and his is going away. I took benadryl allergy medicine and nothing has happend yet. Any suggestions?

It's not the cat. you have a cold. If you were allergic to your cat, you wouldn't get a cold. your eyes would itch and you would feel like there was a feather tickling your nose.

I think that its possible your allergic but probably just a cold. I'm allergic to cats and my eyes get red, puffy, and very itchy. My nose is stuffy/runny and I sneeze a whole lot. I guess a continuous flow of this could be a headache. You might go to your doctor and have him run a rest if it doesn't go away in a few days then its probably the cat.

Give the kitten a bath. It sounds silly but if you are allergic it does help. The kitten will get used to being bathed and will actually come to like it. It reduces the cat dander which is often the cause of allergic reactions. My landlady had a horrid allergy but her daughter loved the cat so they started bathing it at least once a week. By the time it was a year old it would come running to the bathroom every time somebody started filling the tub. It was hilarious to watch the cat playing in the water.

If it continues it might be an allergy. It is difficult to distinguish between the two. If the benadryl allergy meds have not helped perhpas it's just a cold. Allergies often cause also itchy, watery eyes and headaches are not too common.

You probally have a cold. If you find that you are allergic, there are different medicines that you can tack for the symptoms. Also, you can make your cat stop producing oils that you are alleric to by washing your cat every week for about 4 months, therefore making it hypoallergentic.

You would have to have an allergy test done by your doctor to determine an allergic reaction to an animal.

Some people can have a mild allergic reaction and still be around animals. While others can barely be around people who have animals they have allergies too.

Believe it or not, there are many people with allergic reactions to aniamls that continue to keep animals!!

try claritin. i had the same problem when i got my cat, so i went to an allergy doctor and he reccomended this. don't let your kitten sleep in your room, however cute he may be :( also get one of those ionic breeze things from sharper image, they soak up the allergens that are making you sick. if you're not sure you're allergic, find an allergy doctor near you and get tested for cat allergies.

I am very allergic to my kitten (I take prescription medicine) if I don't take my medicine my skin itches all over, my eyes water and feel like I have been crying for an hour, my throat itches, and I feel like my head is going to explode.
