There are so many different one's. Quick cooking, regular, microwave...what kind do I need for cookies?

I always use quick cooking oats and have great results.

The recipe for the cookies I make is on the lid of the Old-Fashioned, regular type oatmeal and they specifically state that quick, microwaveable type oatmeal not be used. Don't know why, probably has to do with texture or rate of absorption of liquids, etc....

Someday, when I can afford to spend $9 for a can of Irish oatmeal, I'm going to make the cookies that Alton Brown made on the Food Network; they looked awfully good, healthy and imposing.

QUick oats, any brand. Generic works just as well as Quaker.

i think you should use the kind you like the best...i don't think it matters
