No telling how they got into your home. When the weather cools down they look for warm places to live and houses offer that protection to them. The old wooden spring loaded traps are best, just set them out with a small amount of peanut butter on the trigger. Collect dead mice...wear gloves. A cat could also help, but only get the cat if you want a pet. If its only to get rid of mice stick with the traps
