Coffee "beans" are the seeds of the coffee bush/tree. So, no, they're not nuts.

No, the botanical definition of a nut is a simple dry fruit with one sometimes two seeds that is connected to the hard ovary wall (shell) and as previously mentioned the coffee "bean" is actually classified as a berry, due to the fleshy outer layer around the seed.

They a Berry Seed. The berry spoils quickly after picking. The seed is roasted and ground for coffee. See the link to a picture.
