It's because your hair is dry that it is poofy try using Bed Head Moisture Maniac.

out of the shower put in some leave-in conditioner, also that stuff is great if you notice poofy-ness during the day or the next day after sleeping on it

I usually wait a little before blow-drying my hair or let it air dry, this lets the natural oils penetrate the hair. if you don't have the time blow dry, but make sure you use a heat protecting spray with conditioner i use treseme' (sp??) and then straighten with a Porcelain straightener; it distributes the heat more evenly and wont burn your hair as easily. or while your hair is still wet put gel in it and scrunch it up ( make sure the gel is alcohol free or low in alcohol content it will dry your hair out even more!!)

If you wear your hair straight then you need to flat iron it after you shower but use a humidity resistant protector first to lock in moisture and shine and block out humidity. Don't use too much oil. If you wear it curly or wavy then use a moisturizing cream mixed with a curl defining mousse.

Use a straightener like the Wave Rage, run a comb through it with plenty of gel. Then spray it when you are done.

so just use the products suggested
