I wouldn't advice it with the risk of infection. Even in the most sterile tattoo shops there is always a risk of infection or a reaction. As for the pain, I'm unsure of that but I would consider holding off until after the child is born...good luck and congrats!

Its not a risk I would take, but talk to the tattoo artist about it, I am sure that not all artists will do it if you are pregnant, when I got my tattoo they made me sign a form that stated I knew I wasn't pregant. I found the information below online:

It is not advisable to have any body decoration procedure that would involve breaking the skin while you are pregnant. This includes procedures like piercing, tattooing or scarification. Most studios have made it a policy not to perform tattoos or piercings on anyone pregnant or breastfeeding. When you get a tattoo or piercing, you face a small chance of an allergic reaction or an infection. It just isn't worth the risk when you can just wait a few extra months and then get the tattoo or piercing you desire.

Any invasive procedure normally involves a small risk of infection. If you are pregnant, this might adversely affect your baby. You also risk contracting a blood borne disease if the needles used are not properly sterilized or are contaminated in some way. Your body is changing and you have enough to worry about without the added worry of caring for a new piercing. It is better to have a piercing completely healed before becoming pregnant; otherwise it might not heal properly until after your baby is born.
"I wouldn't recommend getting a tattoo while pregnant. All causes of infection are to be avoided during pregnancy, as your immune system does not work the way it normally does. Even minor infections should be treated promptly during pregnancy. Anything that could even potentially result in an infection in the blood is particularly to be avoided, so that would include getting a tattoo. Fortunately, pregnancy does not last very long, and waiting a few weeks or months is a very small price to pay to protect your child's health." ~~Cynthia Flynn, CNM

chances are the tattoo artist will not tattoo you. I believe the last time I went I signed something stating I was not pregnant, as well as other things like drunk, hemophalic so if they have that in a contract best not to do it.
Just wait the baby will be here soon, plus you can get some alone time by going to the tattoo studio sans baby for some mommy time!

BAD BAD BAD IDEA!!!! I am a HUGE tattoo enthusiast, (6, two of which are large back pieces) and even I waited until after I was done breastfeeding to get a tattoo.

First of all, the tattoo ink industry is not overseen by the FDA. And as a great many of the inks decide not to post their ingredients, and there's a lot of difference between the ingredients in one type of ink as opposed to another, you can't know if the ink your tattooist prefers just happens to be one that has chemicals in it that could harm a growing fetus.

Furthermore, there is the chance of infection. Your immune system is a little lower when you're pregnant because your body is working so hard in making that baby.

Just please, please, please rethink getting a tattoo while you're pregnant. It's so unsafe in that state that any reputable shop you go to will refuse you until you're all done.

Just wait a few months. It's not worth the harm to your baby!

Getting a piercing is a rapid, sharp soreness. A tattoo is a duller & tolerable soreness, yet needless to say, it takes longer. i will't view the link. The decrease back of ur shoulder is powerful. U can decide for on days no rely if to conceal or conceal it, & it particularly is often no longer an quite painful place. Ur artist will help u w customizing a layout & tell u a thank you to shelter it (notice: after the 1st 2 hrs whilst u do away with the bandage/gauze/wrap, DONT REWRAP. save it faraway from ur sheets & have a twig bottle by ur mattress so if it DOES get caught to the sheets, mist the sheet w water til it could unstick fairly.) a lot of colours! all of them fade w age. they do no longer impression ur wellbeing if u bypass to a clean save. lookup comments on line for the keep/artist & verify out the artist's portfolio on the keep. do no longer take painkillers. practice em the %of the tat u desire. Prob save minimum, usually $50. relies upon on the college, u would could conceal it. Shave whilst it particularly is healed. some places are unlawful to tattoo a minor, verify with the guidelines in ur section. can no longer answer approximately ur dad and mom!

Wait until you have your baby! You don't need the ink getting in the baby for any reason at all! there have been cases where people do things to their bodies while pregnant or nursing and the baby would have allergic reactions! It happens alot! So just wait until after the baby comes and you should be fine!

Did you know that MOST tattoo inks have lead in them? If you ask any reputable tattoo artist to show you the fine print on the label of his ink (not the little bitty vial he's using for his pen, but the actual bottle of ink shipped to them wholesale) you will read (and you may need a magnifying glass) "warning: ink contains amounts of lead"....do you REALLY want a tattoo so badly that you would allow even a micro-mini bit of lead to enter the baby's teeny-weeny fragile blood stream? DO NOT DO IT. Be a good mom and put it off.

Do not do it because all that pain you will be having could result in stress to the baby...and the baby doesn't need that!!

Pain connected to Miscarrying=no way in hell! The pain from a tattoo has nothing to do with your child...he/she cant feel it or even recognize a difference. The pain is connected to your nervous system not the baby's. As for "stress"...that's for you to determine but dont not get the tattoo because you think the baby will be harmed. Decide if you can handle the pain and if you think you can...get the tattoo! :) but I promise...your baby will not be effected.
