I have a 2 year old (spayed) female cat and a 9 month old (neutered) male kitten. well, my little boy cat is always jumping, biting, chasing and fighting with my girl kitty. he's sometimes just so mean to her. all she does is hiss at him and nothing else. she has no front claws (don't worry, I regret having her declawed. I didn't know how cruel it actually was until after her claws were gone). but still, can't she still bite and swat at him? why doesn't she? I mean, she's older and has been with me longer. my boy is about the same size as her now and they are both kept strictly indoors. does she not realize that she can fight back? he doesn't hurt her but I'm just curious as to why. any answers will appreciated!! Thanks!

As someone else stated, female cats tend to be very lenient with cats they perceive as still youngsters. Once he matures, she may begin to try to put him in his place. However, since male cats tend to be bigger than females, and since he'll have claws and she won't, it might get dicey and she may have to retreat and avoid him (but, hopefully, when he outgrows adolescence he'll stop harrassing her and they'll become best buddies). My female is only about half as big as my male cat. He'd be happy having her as a friend and snuggle buddy but she hates him. She will also instigate trouble with him, swatting his back end, biting the back of his thighs whenever she can, jumping on him and all he was doing is walking past her peacefully. Then he feels he has to turn and defend himself and, since he's so much bigger than she is, it can get kind of rough. But, he will always take food away from her, will make her move off the comfy chair in front of the heater, eat all her catnip (he gets his own but he also has to eat hers), etc.

You assume they are fighting. Cats do that for mating (so do humans by the way, hehehe). When the female cat goes into heat, she stops hissing at the male.

Older cats tend to be easier on younger cats/kittens. He will harass her for a few more months. Don't worry, she will more than likely get sick of it and put him in his place.

Maybe she figured my dumb owner had me
declawed,so she doesn't want me to fight
( what the hell were you thinking ? )

She may not feel like being bothered w/ his "childishness" and chooses to be stoic and proper? OR Maybe she is pissed you took away her main defense and doesn't see the point in trying.

she feels defenseless. You took away her two most important things. She feels upset and she thinks she has nothing to fight back with. You need to separate them and don't let them be together. Get her a mouse toy let her swat at it and when she feels confident you can put them back together for short periods.

Different personalities. He is the dominant one, she isn't.
