Well when my husband proposed to me he was saving up for 6 years before he finally asked me to marry him. We are still paying payments and we have been married 4 years. My diamond was $4,600 It was a princess cut diamond. Very big. For the longest time i was so scared to wear it cause i was scared of losing the stone. But now i wear it all the time. It doesn't matter how much it costs. It's the love that matters. And the thought of knowing that when you see that ring you know you have found your soulmate. If by any chance you are getting married i wish you all the best and years of happiness. If it cost $5.00 or $50,000 it doesn't matter. Just remember that the only thing that matters is the love that comes with it.

My engagement ring was ~$100. We were in a tight spot at the time and I'm not big on diamonds so it's a three stone tanzanite white gold ring. The currently plan is to get a more expensive set for the wedding and switch my original to my right hand.

My engagement ring, with wedding band, cost a whopping $200! Of course, that was 1986, before college, and we were really poor!
It had a cluster of "I'd like to be a diamond when I grow up". There were 7 of them, and when he asked me to marry him, he said, "See, there are 7 little diamonds here. In the Bible, 7 is a symbol of completeness, and I won't be complete without you." (A full TEN YEARS before Jerry Maguire, thankyouverymuch!)
Isn't that sweet? (He replaced the ring years later, but I still have the original!)

My ring is 1.4 carats. The center stone is .76 carat Asscher cut with two smaller princess cut diamonds on either side and ten princess cut diamonds in the band. The papers value it at somewhere between $7000 and $8000. He did a great job picking it out by himself.

My friend's sister got a mood ring...It was a little joke between her and her bf.
The real value of an engagment ring is how much it means to you and your loved one...princess cut canary diamond or not, the meaning it holds is its greatest value :)

it was a princess cut solitaire from Friedman's.. $500 range.
I don't think the price is as important as what the ring means to you. Good luck and god bless :)

when i was in jr. high, i had a plastic ring and i proposed to my friend (now husband) with it...little did i know he had a huge crush on me...and we wound up dating after he graduated and i was a Sr....about six months later, he proposed to me with that exact same ring (i completely forgot about it!) it was so sweet. i cried, he cried! it was so romantic. in his other pocket he had a .33 carat princess cut diamond ready and waiting. i don't care about the price, or how large or small it is, it was just such a nice way to propose to me...i will never forget the way i felt that day!
also when he proposed, he gave me the small, folded, torn paper towel he was wringing in his hands when he asked my dad if he could marry me!

I didnt' pick it out so I dont' know. It's white gold, one karet round diamond with two quarter k diamonds on each side of it. So 5 diamonds total.
I have two bands that we purchased later - 7 diamonds on the top and bottom that curve around. It's beautiful - I love it!!!.
