I'm a very nervous flyer myself and did lots of research last year when I wanted to fly to England to visit my brother. I was very comforted to hear that the chances of dying in a plane crash are only something like 1 in 25 million ! I also heard it expressed that you would have to fly every day for something like a thousand years before the odds would catch up to you. So yes....it's extremely safe. Just try to relax. It can be kind of fun actually. Also, there are some websites out there that have info on getting over your fear of flying, so take advantage of them.

Oh yeah, and what the guy above me said is true....flying is actually safer than WALKING even. Pretty cool, huh?

You have a one in 8 million chance of crashing as you drive to the airport and a one in 53 million chance of crashing during the flight. Flying is very safe. Having said that, most people die after the crash from burns and smoke inhalation. The trick to surviving the crash is getting off the plane very quickly.

I flew for the first time last summer, it was great! It is a lot safer than driving in a car... look at the statistics. I loved it... just don't open a 20 oz drink until the pilot tells you that you are flying level and then still give it time to pressurize. My husband opened his as we were going up and it went EVERYWHERE!

Pretty safe. You have a higher chance of getting into a car accident than your plane crashing
