That's because you're doing what everyone else is doing... you're praying to an invisible man.
You'll hear a lot of rationalizing about "sometimes the answer is 'no'" or other such absurdities.
The truth is, conveniently, God always wins.
If your prayers are answered, it's a miracle.
If your prayers are not answered, it's God's Will.
Well, if it's God's Will, and he's pretty much going to do whatever's in his Divine Plan anyway, why pray?
Edit: The whole "it takes a while for God to answer" is nonsense.
I guess that God isn't omnipotent or omnipresent, huh?

First, rest assured that He always loves you. When Jesus was dying on the cross, He cried out to His Father and got no readily apparent response. (Mark 15:34) Did this mean that God didn't love Him? No. Perhaps you could look at this as a test, a chance to exercise your faith. Also, it's always helpful to have a prayer partner, or partners. Jesus promised to be with us when ever two or more were gathered in His name. Also, be sure that your prayers are more than just requests. He wants to have a relationship with you, so why not discuss your confusion and fear with Him? Ask Him where you should go next. And be open enough to realize that answers don't always come in the form we expect them to. He speaks through the Bible, through nature, and through those near and dear to us. Just never, ever think He doesn't love you.

You can be assured God hears your prayer, God knows what you will ask for even before it enters your mind.
Sometime it takes a long time to get your answer, do not give up hope.
Whatever your prayer is the prayer has to be according to God's will (1 John 5:13).

Keep on praying, never give up. God loves you and will always love you. If you really have faith God will answer. I don't think that is was that God didn't answer you, I believe that you just weren't listening. Always listen.
God may have a miracle planned for you, but you have to keep on praying and having faith. Giving up isn't the answer. Ask a preacher/christian friend about it.
Don't be scared! God is with you at all times. He is everywhere. He can listen to everyone at the same time. Don't think that God didn't hear you. Remember to listen.
Hope this helps.--Kelly

This happens often. It has nothing to do with God not loving you.
Understand that many of the things that we have been told about God and our relationship with Him are simply not true.
For this reason many times when we ask for an answer we don't recognize it when it comes because it does not sound like the nonsense that we have been taught about God by religion.
Remember too that God always knows what is in our best interest. Even if we don't happen to like it. Often we ask God to change something that is important for our spiritual growth. God will not make this change for us because our spiritual growth is far more important to God than our immediate comfort.
Trust Me God loves you more than you could possibly ever imagine. This never changes no matter what happens. Any idea that God could ever be displeased with you or Judge you for any reason is simple nonsense.

First of all, let me assure you that God loves you more than you could possibly imagine. He sent His only Son to die for you!!! Thats love! God is always listening, sometimes no answer is the answer. Just cuz its not the answer you want or youre still confused doesnt mean He didnt answer. Keep praying, stay commited to God and He will help everything work out for you. It may not be the outcome you want, but it will be in your best interest in the long run. Good luck! God bless :)

This reminds me of the story about a man stranded on the roof of his home in a flood. He prayed to God to save him. Before too long a boat came by and the man in the boat said "Get in." The man on the roof said "No, I'm waiting for God to save me." Then a helicopter came by. The man in the helicopter said "I'll send down a rope." The man on the roof said "No. I'm waiting for God to save me."
The water continued to rise until the man drowned. As the man entered the gates of heaven he asked God, "I prayed for you to help me. Why didn't you answer my prayer?"
God answered, "Why do you think I sent the boat and the helicopter?"
The point of the story is that sometimes we have in our minds how God is going to answer our prayers and when we don't see what we expected, we assume He wasn't listening.
You need to have faith that God will ALWAYS do what is in your best interest when you have a need. His wisdom, though, allows Him to see what is truly best for you and sometimes it's hard to see His answer.
I have a friend who lost his job several years ago. As the company was struggling before he lost his job, he prayed that God would take care of him. And then he lost his job. He said at the time he felt like God had abandoned him and he couldn't understand how losing his job could be in his best interest.
But his loss of his job forced him to relocate to my city. There he found a better job. He found a church family that he believes is where God wants him to be. His life and that of his family are far better now than they would have been had God saved his job.
It took time, patience, and faith in God to finally see the hand of God in this answer. Sometimes we can only see how God has worked in our interest by looking BACK at where we have come from.

sometimes he takes a while to answer. WHY? Because we need to grow in faith. It's persistance. It's perserverance. You go to someone's house. You know they are home. You knock at the door. Nobody opens the door. You knock. Still nobody answers. You ain't taking this lying down. You are bound and determined to get that person to open the door for you. So you stay there, and keep knocking. Maybe you'll hollar their name, too. It's the same with God. You pray once, and he doesn't answer right away. You leap in faith, God is probably saying to himself, "this person need to pray more. They need to boost their faith in Me wayyy up. So as a test, i'll not answer their prayer for a while. Let's see how long they keep praying. I wonder if they suddenly give up. I hope they don't give up! I am their God." Then you boost your faith up more, and he'll answer your prayer.
Also, perhaps you have unrepented sin that is keeping God from hearing your prayers. Take a look at your life. Maybe something in it needs repair, before God will answer. If it's a lot of sin, or a serious one, then maybe he's waiting for you to confess that sin to him, and to repent of it. You'd be surprised at how quick he'll bless you, once you repent of any bad sin in your life.
God bless you!

'Sometimes God gives us an Orange when we asked for an Apple because He knows that the season won't give us the sweetest one. Everything is Beautiful in its own time.

Don't run ahead of God. Let Him Direct your steps, He has plans and He has time. God's clock is never early and never late. It always strikes in time.

If you're facing any trouble, do not ask; "God why me?" Instead ask; " God what do you want me to learn?" Then Trust God and Keep on doing what is right. Don't give up, just grow up.

Sometimes it takes God a little bit to answer. What people don't understand is it's not just God zapping down an answer all the time....although he sure can. Sometimes things depend on the decisions that others make and how God uses that in turn affecting you. He usually does answer, it just takes a little looking for it. A lot of the time our answers come in ways that we didn't even think it could be.

Nice handle. And if I may add, anxiety over whether a god hears your prayer is probably a sign from one of those gods that it's time to consider a different god or maybe atheism. Seriously, if you ask a person you trust you'll get better, more specific help - don't be scared, just figure out who you trust and lean on them.
