My legs are killing me now and I know they will kill tomorrow so is there anything I can do tonight to prevent them from being realy sore? Like will drinking Whey protein help? Also should I take very cold showers after basketball doesnt that help healing?

hey there is definitely some stuff you can do tonight..... like STRETCHING!!! it seriously works wonders. dont bounce but be slow about it and take your time. it will feel great and you wont feel a thing afterwards (as far as muscle soreness) . i bet if you look up stretches on google you'll find a bunch.

It sounds like this may be delayed onset muscle soreness. If so, stretching may help, as may getting the sore muscles massaged. Eating or drinking some carbs and protein after training is a good idea anyway (a shake made with whey concentrate and oats would be one example, if that appeals...) and may well help with the soreness. Some people say that cold showers/ice baths help - I never had the stomach to try, though ;)

Be careful, though - it sounds like you might be overdoing it. Maybe the soreness is something to mention to your coach. Also, if there's a possibility that the soreness is caused by something more serious than delayed onset muscle soreness, you really should get it check out by a physio, dr etc - training with a pulled muscle etc. will only make things worse.

Sounds like you need some painkillers and a physiotherapist or massage therapist.
