I ship out for Great Lakes in 11 days and I wanted to give my address there to my family and friends. Is there any way to find out my ship and division numbers now, since I won't have much outside communication once I get there? Thanks.

you won't know until you get to boot camp. Once there it might take a few days to a couple of weeks before you are assigned to a unit. My son would take a small notebook with him and during odd times, he would write letters home. My son is in the Army and they encouraged the new recruits to write home often.

Your address is going to change a couple of times while you're in the service. Most family of servicemen / women know this. When you 1st arrive at bootcamp, the Navy will notify your next of kin of your safe arrival. They might even allow you a quick phone call these days. You'll get a more permanent address once you're assigned to a training unit. Usually the 1st couple of days you're in a "recieving" status, waiting for the next training unit to form and recieving is not a good place to expect any mail. Just tell the friends and family you'll get them the address when you're told what it is, they probably already know this.

Wait till you get to boot camp. They make you sit down the first day or so write a letter home and give you the return address.
Don't fret, you'll be fine. Believe it or not boot camp will become one of the best times of your life.

Once you arrive, and after orientation, you will be given time to write letters, relax etc. Your address at boot camp will be given to yoou then or if you like, you can ask your recruiter.

As to your first duty station, you won't know that until you get your first orders.

Ask your recruiter! Besides, you will not have any time to get and read letters from home while in boot camp. All the other pertinent addresses you are looking for will be provided to you at camp.

No, because when you arrive , you will first be in reception, then you will be assigned to a company for training. Once you are assigned to a company, then you will have your boot camp address.

When my husband left, he took a small piece of paper with the address he needed, so you might get their addresses instead. You will most likely be able to get a letter out pretty quick with your address.
