Friend zone has more to deal with time than the guy. You aren't doomed, trust me. Start making a move sooner, or flirting more seriously early on. By the time she is asking you to buy shoes with her, it's too late.
I'm not saying don't be her friend, just make sure she sees you as date material first, get her, then be her best friend. But if you get to be good friends first, she'll probably be araid of ruining the friendship later on by risking dating.

maybe you should try talking to them more, spending time, and soon enough, the girl will see you 'that' way..even tho they mite say, '"no, we're just best friends..thats it'', she actaully mite have that feeling for you...but girls like guys making the move, so if u like a girl, you should make the move. good luck :)
