Depends on what you like and which neighborhoods in each boro you're comparing. There are bad and good neighborhoods in each. The two boroughs are very similar where they border each other, and it's hard to tell one from the other along the border.

Generally speaking, most of the people in Queens are real, REAL New Yorkers, people who were born and raised in NY and still live there. In Brooklyn, there are a couple neighborhoods with real NYers left, but most of the nicer neighborhoods in Brooklyn are gentrified and expensive neighborhoods which are very nice, but they are filled with people from everywhere except New York - Transplants.

Personally, I find Queens to be full of more "real" people and that's where I'd like to live. Plus, I'm a Mets fan. The people in Brooklyn, the transplants, are usually a bunch of phonies and hipster types who care mostly about living some fantasy they have always had about "making it in the big city". They tend to romanticize their lives in NY and talk big and act like they are "real New Yorkers" and put down people who aren't like them, even though they're transplants.

By the way, a by-product of the fact that Brooklyn has been so gentrified with transplants is that a lot of ethnic people have left so that means that now Queens is much more ethnic, which means for much better diversity and food than Brooklyn. Also, the ethnic people in any nice neighborhood are moral, hard-working, kind, and good people. For example, in Queens it's a good chance your neighbors will be Brazilian, Armenian, Polish, and Chinese families who want to live a nice life and work hard and raise their families, but in Brooklyn most of your neighbors will be white-bread people who transplanted from places like Iowa, Wisconsin, Alabama, and Wyoming and now they wear a lot of black and expensive trendy clothing and have a sense of entitlement that it's THEIR neighborhood and don't screw it up or they'll organize a block committee to make you change or leave.

Hope that sheds some light on things for you!! :)

Brooklyn is a bad place. It has the worest rep. in New York. They kill people in front of you,in subways or in shopping malls. Whats good about Brooklyn is that there parts that are nice and clam like along the East River.Brooklyn has liek the baddest buildings ever, if one house goes in flames, teh rest of the houses on teh block go in flames too.

Queens is an o.k place. what sbad about Queens is that if you live in the north side you here the planes landing and going out airplanes and in teh south you have jfk and its the same as the north. Whats good about it it's thats its green
