think of it this way if you had heart condition would you see a dentist for diagnosis? Why do so many Protestants (that includes SDA, JW, and Baptist) assume their presumpositions on Catholicism are truthfully accurate without complete examination of what the Church really teaches?

being an ex-catholic doesn't make you a teaching authority. The Church is the body of Christ with many different parts, some are teachers some are not. in some Protestant communities believers are taught they can use independant biblical interpretation yet this is against biblical instruction. Not all believers are elders my non-catholic brethren

Blacklab personally I think it is lack of trust and would be coming from those who would claim they go by faith. If having faith is all that is needed to know God than faith should led to love which in turn would allow for trust as nothing would separate you from truth. Needless say I still encourage Protestants who are too closed to examine Catholicism from a Catholic teaching authority. The whore of babylon don't you know ogy-vey.

sorry but watchtower isn't the holy scripture and i have numerous quotes from JW literature claiming exact timing of Christ's second coming. sadly for JW believers you've already been proven false prophets I can supply you the quotes if you wish. contact me here. The honest truth is JW also have traditions as do all Protestants.

Many hate what they PERCEIVE of Roman Catholicism, not the Truth of Roman Catholicism.
Bishop Fulton Sheen, 1950's
Many were taught from their youth to hate Catholicism and Catholics. Today, in fact it is a very fashionable bigotry.

sure. i became raised as a Methodist and now i'm a Catholic. an substantial reason I grew to develop right into a Catholic became because i realized that the Catholic Church, with its links to Jesus' apostles, and in view that the corporate that chosen the hot testomony, has better knowledge of what those books advise than protestors attempting to study the Catholic scriptures with out a similar grounding in heritage. as an get mutually, "all have sinned" is a reliable generalization, even though it really is a misreading to take it as surely inviolable. to finish that, you would might want to say that Jesus sinned! I even haven't any situation with the archives that Jesus' mom by no ability sinned. an similar rule is, "Smoking causes maximum cancers." which ability there is an really reliable probability that in case you smoke adequate, you receives maximum cancers. the impressive circumstances of lifetime heavy those who smoke that do not get maximum cancers does no longer falsify the actuality of the rule of thumb. further, that there are occasional saints that by no ability sin does no longer falsify the incontrovertible actuality that each and every one human beings have dedicated sin. attempt the Catholic perspectives, and also you would possibly want to locate that they extra useful clarify the scriptures (see link). Cheers, Bruce

I have done a complete study on what the catholic church teaches and fully understand and discern that it is false. The Catholic church professes to be the only one who teaches the true gospel and then tells everyone that they can't obtain salvation unless they join the catholic church and that definitely tells me that it is not the true gospel and that it does not preach the truth. But if somone wanted to learn and understand what the teachings are, it is a good thing to learn it and one way could be to ask a catholic and compare it to what the Word really says and see how many inconsistancies there are in the catholic teachings. The Word of God is the final authority not the catholic church or the pope and Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to those who are actually born again, to be a teacher and comforter and to help us to discern false doctrine.

Depends on how much the non-Catholic knows, but yes, a priest is probably in a better position to explain the nuances of the faith. I'm not Catholic at all, but I have a sincere appreciation for that religion. Many beautiful aspects, hmmm, time to get out to Mass again.

As a former Catholic (and I mean a FAITHFUL PRACTICING Catholic- not a fair-weathered one), I have lived both sides of this debate. I attended Catholic schools with daily religion classes until high school. I went through all of the sacrements through my confirmation. I considered becoming a nun so that I could devote myself to the service of the church. I was serious! I am now an interdenominational protestant. I have spent 20 years searching out what the church taught me vs. what the Word of God teaches, and I have found GREAT inconsistencies due to the teachings of men over the Word of God. I have done historical studies and learned about the many pagan roots of the church that came about because of the Pax Romana through Emperor Constantine. The historical facts are clearly documented and irrefutable. Not everything about the Catholic church is "evil", but there are weeds in her roots and false doctrines have become accepted by her teachers. Many practices and tenants are expressly forbidden in scripture. I speak as someone who has lived as a devoted Catholic.
Yes, I will provide several examples. Just letting you know I saw your request and I will answer you, but hubby and I are on our way out on a date. (Lucky me!) Check back tomorrow, and I will have that with references. Good night all!

That is the truth. My religion gets that all the time. People hear stuff from liars who say mormons are evil and worship the devil wich is totally a lie. Some people have heard that we have horns. That is just retarded.

Jehovah's Witnesses consider the Holy Scriptures as the final word in all matters of worship, and actually encourage their adherents to elevate the bible over the human traditions which pass as worship for too many humans.
(Matthew 15:3,9) [Jesus] said to them: “Why is it you also overstep the commandment of God because of your tradition? ...It is in vain that they keep worshiping [God], because they teach commands of men as doctrines.
(Mark 7:8) Letting go the commandment of God, you hold fast the tradition of men.
(Colossians 2:8) Look out: perhaps there may be someone who will carry you off as his prey through the philosophy and empty deception according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary things of the world and not according to Christ
It makes sense to get the truth directly from the bible. Trading the bible for some Catholic book would be like trading one's eyeballs for eyeglasses.

The Funny thing about Anti Catholic Christians who claims that they follow what the Bible says, is that if it were not for Catholics, They wouldn't have a Bible to follow and read in the first place.

Perhaps your dentist is an ex-heart surgeon.
Perhaps that Protestant is an ex-catholic.
Just some examples.
