Sandwashed Silk Sheets

Actually, satin used to be MADE of silk, as was sometimes velvet. The price will be your indicator whether those sheets are 100% silk...I would not recommend satin sheets, though, dear. They get ruined and snagged and stained very easily (think of that silky disco jacket you used to have in high school). I used to have a LOVELY set of sandwashed silk sheets I got from Hong Kong when I was there, and THOSE kind are what I would recommend. They feel like peach skin, velvety and soft, and won't slide off you or your bed, and they are MUCH more durable!

no not really. Satin is referring to the way the fabric is woven. It is a thicker fabric than silk. They may use silk thread to weave the fabric in the satin weave. It is usually really shiny on top and then dull on the back.
I would prefer it to silk sheets. Silk sheets let you slide off the bed and crawl off the mattress. The pillow cases will crawl off the pillows and the things are cold. They never warm up. They are nice to lay around on but to really get a good nights sleep, well 100 percent cotton percale honey. A tired woman is not a sexy woman no matter what kind of sheets you have. hehe

Satin and Silk are definitely not the same. Silk is a naturally made fiber and satin is synthetic.

Satin is a cloth that typically has a glossy surface and a dull back. A satin is a warp-dominated weaving technique that forms a minimum number of interlacings in a fabric. If a fabric is formed with a satin weave using filament fibers such as silk, nylon, or polyester, the corresponding fabric is termed a "satin". If the yarns used are short-staple yarns such as cotton, the fabric formed is considered a sateen.

A satin-woven fabric tends to have a high luster due to the high number of "floats" on the fabric. Floats are "missed" interlacings, where, the warp yarn lays on top of the weft yarn, or vice versa. The floats tend to make the fabric look glossier as well as give it a smoother hand in most cases.

Many variations can be made of the basic satin weave including a Granite weave and a Check weave. Satin weaves are used commonly in apparel goods such as eveningwear and fine clothing. They can also be found in linens, such as bedsheets as well as in some industrial usages and athletic gear such as shorts and baseball jackets. Satin weaves, twill weaves, and plain weaves are the 3 basic types of weaving by which the majority of woven products are formed.

Satin is commonly used in apparel: Satin baseball jackets, athletic shorts, women's lingerie, nightgowns, and evening gowns but also in some men's boxer shorts, shirts and neckties, and interior furnishing fabrics, upholstery and bed sheets. It is also used for Ballet shoes- all Pointe shoes are made of satin.

Silk is a natural protein fibre, some forms of which can be woven into textiles. The best-known type of silk is obtained from the cocoon of silkworm larvae reared in captivity (sericulture). The shimmering appearance for which silk is prized comes from the fibres' triangular prism-like structure which allows silk cloth to refract incoming light at different angles..

Note: I bought the polyester satin sheets years ago. I found them hot in summer and all the little dry spots on my feet got caught on the fabric. Icky.

No. Silk is available in a wide variety of textures, and satin is one of them. Satin is shiny and feels almost slippery. I would be afraid of sliding right off the bed! Now of course if your significant other likes the feel of satin........

No, and satin sheets are kind of a pain because the blankets slide off of them.
