I think 2.5 mm is a decent thick band. You are suppose to get married with the wedding band. Anniversary band I think is just a name. You can get married with whatever ring you want wedding or not. I say why be traditional? Your wedding and how you marry is your special touch do what you want. Use an anniversary band as a wedding band! I guess if you think about it your "anniversary" band will end up being your anniversary for your wedding day. If that makes sense. Anyways congrats!!!

A wedding band is usually plain gold, but can have a few small diamonds set in it, to match the engagement ring. An anniversary band usually matches the bridal set, but is given at the first, fifth, tenth, etc. anniversary. Usually there are more diamonds around the band. You get married with just the wedding band. Either don't wear the engagement ring, or put it on your other hand for the ceremony. Then after the wedding band is put on, you can put your engagement ring on over top.

The first answer is correct - Traditionally, a wedding band is a plain godl band with not decoration. Some religions still require that the wedding bands be plain - no diamonds, etc. But, wedding bands with diamonds, like your channel band, are perfectly acceptable for most weddings.
The anniversary band was traditionally a fancy version of the wedding band that was worn on the opposite side of the engagement ring and is given to the bride on her first anniversary. Today, many brides will have matching wedding and anniversary bands to great a complete 3 peice set. An anniversary band is not required if you would rather not have one, and it can be given later as well. I got mine for our 5th anniversary.

Traditionally speaking a wedding band is a gold band, 2 to 3mm, and has NO decoration whatsoever. It is placed BEHIND the engagement ring. An anniversary band is a 2 to 3 mm gold band that is ornamented, either with engraving or the setting of stones. Honestly, that difference is moot in this time. There is rarely ever any distinguishing between the two.

An anniversary band usually has diamonds in it I think whereas a regular wedding band is generally plainish. Think of the anniversary band kind of like an upgrade but if you can start with it, good for you.

Are you happy with the ring? Do you get that thrill of excitement in the pit of your stomach when you look at it?
That's all that really matters.
