Contrary to others comments... Cats CAN definatley get kennel cough, also known as Bordatella. This is also called Whooping Cough in humans. As for whether it can transfer from dog to cat.. I would ask your vet.
I would think though that If your cat could not contract it...the vet would not recommend a Bordatella vaccination for your cat if it goes out doors.
I would recommend vaccinating it against Bordatella if you haven't already. If they do contract Bordatella, they will live but it is costly for medication to get rid of it and Bordatella is HIGHLY contagious.
Don't believe these people on here saying that a cat can not contract Bordatella. Call any vet and ask or even look Bordatella up on Wikipedia. see... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bordetella_bronchiseptica
Hope this helps!!

While kennel cough is extremely contagious for other dogs, chances are pretty slim that that would transfer to your cat. Watch your cat for signs of gagging (similar to the sound they make when hacking up a hairball), runny eyes and noses and if you see these signs get your cat to the vet. Cats that do get it usually have a weaker immune system due to viruses they are sick from but symptoms have not shown. Have you kept up with your cat's vaccinations? If so that would even further decrease the chances your cat would have of catching it.

Dane lover - a cat absolutely can get kennel cough, although it is a fairly recent trend. There are plenty of articles like:

It's not likely, there are different strains of kennel cough. And as long as your cat is current on vaccines, shouldn't be a problem.

I think it can. Maybe consider consulting your vet to be on the safe side. Good luck, I hope your dog gets better and your cat doesn't get sick. Best wishes.
