Why is it okay to ban smoking, and yet allow 24 hr drinking? How ludicrous!!?

We do still have civil liberties in this country.

Drink all you want - as long as it doesn't hurt me. That's why we have drunk driving laws.

If you smoke even one cigarette, you are hurting people all around you. That's not ok. Smoking cigarettes should be banned entirely. They should be regulated by the FDA and made illegal.

Very few states allow 24 hour drinking. To the best of my knowledge Nevada is the only one.

Here in Michigan, you can't buy between 2 am and 7 am on weekdays, 2 and 12 on Sundays, and not at all on Sundays in some counties.

Because second-hand smoke is a known carcinogen and directly causes illness and death. Alcohol, by itself, does not do this. Having been raised in a home where both parents were heavy smokers and one was an alcoholic, I can tell you I would choose the alcoholic. I wouldn't have had to deal with all the respiratory illnesses I had growing up.

Smoking even one ciggarette is harmful to you and those around you.

Drinking one glass of alcohol is scientifically proven to be mildly beneficial to your health.

You seem to be presuming that pubs and bars will be full of people drinking permanently till they are physically ill...but that happened when there wasn't 24 hour opening.

because apart from the complications alcohol impacts on society, drinking an alcoholic beverage does not harm the person standing 2 meters away from you. Smoking does this, its called passive smoke...if we were meant to smoke we would have a chimney of the side of our head

Crazy, isn't it?

The reason is that most all politicians drink as do other officials so they won't outlaw drinking.

By outlawing smoking the "powers to be" have killed the goose that laid the golden egg.......meaning they are now suffering from no tax money from the smokers.

Second, IF they outlawed drinking, they would have "cooked the goose" also.

Then, instead of getting tax from smoking and alcohol, they would and WILL raise everybody's tax to make up for the "vice" taxes. Good luck. Pops

at least if you're drinking you are killing you're self. slowly and At least you're not having to smell the cigs around you that you're not smoking. at least drinking don't kill no one but the person drinking. second hand smoke ewwwwwwwwwww. i like to have my beer without a cig. and all the smell that comes with it. in other words i would like to come home not smelling like a ashtray and with both my lungs. if i wanna kill my liver at least its me doing it. i find no woman attractive. the second i see her smokeing its gross and killing. at least you dont see most people drinking like others smoke ...........

because, smoking affects everybody, even non smokers, non smokers have no choice in the matter but to breathe in horrible smoke, and drinkers, dont affect non drinkers, simple!!
