My life is great except that I am losing my hair and aging in my 20s and therefore find it difficult to meet the right women (maybe I also need more confidence...but thats another story).

I often wonder why young guys who get women easily and do not suffer from poverty or bad health and who having loving parents still get depressed? I have met quite a few such people who take depression medication, but I never ask them why they are depressed or take the medication.

Sure poverty, bad health, crappy parents, and the inability to get a girlfriend can lead to depression. But, just because a person looks like they have everything to you doesn't mean they actually do. Not only that, there are many factors that lead to happiness or sadness in life -- not just money, health, parents, and girls. Young boys who get women easily get those women because of one thing: confidence. So, when you say "maybe I also need more confidence, but that's another story," you're wrong -- that's THIS story. Losing your hair and aging in your 20's is not why you aren't meeting the right women. You aren't meeting the right women because you're spending too much time worrying about your hair, your age, and everybody around you who IS happy.

I'd urge you to get some professional counseling so you can learn to deal with the things that seem to be making it so hard for you to learn to love and value yourself and your own life. You'll never make a woman fall in love with you if you don't love yourself first. It may sound cheesy, but it's an absolute fact. Good luck!

People get depressed for all kinds of reasons, both externally such as bad teeth and internally such a chemical imbalance. The areas that you put importance on are not necessarily a cause for a positive self image for some people. Especially if they have been graced with loving parents and a full head of hair for their whole lives they tend to take it for granted.

A lot of times people don't even know why they are depressed. Deep dissatisfaction with life is very common these days.

Girls fall for that emotional crap

And then the girls make me depressed :-P

My last gf did $300-00 worth of damage to my front door (kicking in the glass panes) because I wouldn't talk to her because she was being verbally abusive. She didn't get the point until I called the police to take her away.

Shave your head - bald is actually supposed to be quite sexy (supposedly indicates high testosterone levels) - learn some form of interaction (Salsa dancing is great - sexy and smooth and you get to meet girls)

Depression is associated with intelligence. Those who are too dumb and happy tend not to be depressed unless their life is REALLY shitty. Those who have a good life have more to worry about.

When you have your four walls, roof and food ... your mommy is doing your laundry ... you now worry about having to pay to fix your car or to de-virus your computer. It's a whole different world from those who have to worry about the four walls, roof and food in the first place.

When you HAVE money, you worry about not having money etc.

um well lots of things contribute to depression. Though i'm a girl i went through a deep clinical depression. Mine was because of circumstances and chemical reactions in my brain, though it seemed i shouldn't be depressed. I had moved into a new house wit my parents. Really nice neighborhood, giant yard blah blah ect. straight a's but i hated living so much. Wanted to die, stupid school and people. I was teased and harassed in my classrooms so much that i would get physically sick and then i started imagining thing... yeah anyway. some of you'll were right but some of you'll ... depression is no joke. It's not like you can just be like i'm gonna be happy. As much as i wanted to enjoy life i could not. anyway thanks to lexapro and lots of therapy (3 years worth and i'm still on lexapro) I'm not depressed though i still have anxieties.
