How to overlay still image over video with audio running?

I have a video I recorded of a presentation. At points I panned over to a screen where slides were shown, but it is kinda blurry.
I have copies of the presentation given in Powerpoint. I exported the slides to JPEGs, and want to insert these still images into my final video where I panned over to the screen to have a better quality in the final video. Can anyone recommend what kind of Video Editing software I can use to do this? The key is the video has the audio running with the presenter speaking, and I want to keep that audio running in the background?
Most software I have found, lets you insert pictures, but you lose audio?

Have you looked at Pinnacle Studio? That should get you what you want at a low price. You'll have a few options in terms of audio track and you might need to buy a plug-in to do exactly what you want.

Studio will also allow you to show the slide and put a new audio track against it. That's probably easier than cutting up an existing audio track. With the existing audio track you'll need to divide the audio with the original video into clips or scenes and then edit each clip. Each video clip will need to be replaced with a jpeg and then the timings will need to be edited so that the audio and visual portions align.

Pretty much any editing software should allow you to do this. I use premiere, but have used Final Cut and Avid in the past. Of course, you probably won't be using final cut or avid. Have you tried windows movie maker? It should allow you to do this and if you have a pc, then you should have that program already.
