Someone gave me a dirty look after I did this as if I just did something illegal.

It's legal, if you ended up in the farthest safe lane to the right.

If you took up more than one lane, there's your dirty look.

Turning right on red is acceptable everywhere except New York City and when there is a big sign that says "NO TURN ON RED."

If you are turning from a 2-way street onto a one way street, I don't see any problem with that!! Was the person who gave you a dirty look in the car next to you? Or was it a pedestrian?

Well, it is legal as long as you are turning from the right most lane and turned in the correct direct and there was no sign saying NO TURN ON RED.
How did you see the dirty look? You are NOT relieved of the responsibility to YIELD right of way to cars on the One Way street.

Well its not illegal. UNless theres a sign that says you cant. But it wud be kindov hard to get onto a one lane street when theres a green light on the road ur trying to get on. Unless theres like no cars around. or a big space in between all the cars that are in single file on this one lane road.

Check your state and local laws but in most states it is legal as long as its not posted and you were going the right way on the one wat street. lol
