Installers typically place the siren to an auto alarm in the engine compartment near the firewall. Cop cars place it as close to the front grill as possible for maximum loudness. For most public applications it really wont matter because you aren't trying to get somebody to pull over at 60mph, so anywhere in the engine compartment will do as long as it's far enough away from the engine not to melt from the heat.

Oh, and I've got to give a thumbs up to Rodney P. for his answer, I laughed so hard it hurt..... :-)

If you are installing a light bar, put the siren speaker on the bar. If you are not using a bar, mount the siren low in the front grill or under the front bumper.

You want the siren directed to the front of the vehicle, and you want to mount it as far from your drivers seat as possible, if in the front of the vehicle, so mount it on the passenger side. Save your hearing a bit!

I HOPE YOU KNOW THAT INPERSONATING A COP IS A FELONY AND YOUR VEHICLE WILL GET IMPOUNDED IF YOU ARE CAUGHT OR SEEN ON PUBLIC STREETS!!!
