my 15 month old has some kind of virus (she saw her pedeatrician 2 days ago)... she had a fever, it's seems to have gone... she developed lesions on her tongue and on her face and hands.. seems like hand foot mouth disease, right? my question is about her gums... they seemed to have swollen quite a bit- and she's in quite a bit of pain... should we take her to emerg. or wait til tomorrow and go to a walk-in clinic...??

It does sound like hand-foot-and-mouth, which can cause mouth ulcers. However, if your daughter is in "quite a bit of pain" I would definitely recommend a trip to the ER for this. They may at least be able to make her more comfortable while she battles the virus, and since it sounds like she's worsened instead of improved recently, there may be some complications. Better safe than sorry!

Good luck!

Are you giving her some aspirin or Tylenol for teething? She must be teething and the gums get very red and swollen when molars are getting ready to break through. The bigger the teeth that are cutting usually the more swollen and the hotter they get.

You could dip a Q tip into some hydrogen peroxide and touch it to the areas you are calling lesions on her tongue, face and hands. It will help heal them.

I would make sure you are alternating baby aspirin and Tylenol every 2 hours and try to keep her as cool with damp wash cloths, as you can.

What did her Pediatrician say she had???
I would take her back to him or her, since the Dr. is familiar with what is going on.

Did she have the lesions when the doc saw her 2 days ago? If not then I would defintley take her to the emergency room tonight. And if the little sweet girl is in pain, no question about it. It is better to be safe than sorry. tAKE CARE of her and you will sleep alot better. GOOD LUCK!

The emergency room will not deal w/ the mouth! I woul wait until morning . Try and give her some baby ambasol or oral gel to sooth the pain. Or just call the emergency room first and speak to the attending physician to see if there is anything else you can do!
Good Luck.

i have never heard of a virus that causes all this, but i'm not a doctor either. i would give her some baby Tylenol and see if that helps for over night. i would get a second opinion in the morning because something isn't right.

sounds like it is time for more teeth to pop out. If her mouth is red with white spots and it looks sore. it is something called THRUSH
STERILIZE ALL NIPPLES and bottles it is similar to a yeast infection same bug. if you are concerned go get help now dint second guess yourself ever.they will give you something to make the baby more comfortable. good luck

You should go to a walk-in clinic. For the time being you can wrap her wrist with a cold towel, rub her feet with alcohol,and/or alternate tylenol and motrin every 3-4 hours.

Take the poor child to the emergency room NOW please.

If she is in pain why would you wait to take her?

She has something SERIOUS and she could die.

Please take her now.

No TYLENOL AND NO ASPIRIN OR ANALGESICS -

TAKE HER NOW!!!
