This will always be on your record, but it shouldn't keep you from being able to see your own child, unless that is mandated by law. You may have to go to court to get visitation rights.
Hopefully your past behavior is really in the past, because I can understand her reluctance, with your history, to let you be around the child. Smoking cigarettes around a child is bad, but not considered "abuse" in the eyes of the law. Obviously whatever you were convicted of was.

Are you serious!?
First of all, it should be up to a judge to determine whether or not you should see your child. I think that if you do see your child, it should probably be with supervision, not just for the child's sake but for your own. You certainly don't want to be accused of anything else, right?
Now, you really need to step back and consider a few things. I'm not sure what you did to land yourself such a terrible record (circumstances, ect), but, as a parent, consider how you would feel if your child was spending time with someone with your record? Probably not too comfortable... You have to admit that it really makes you look bad. I'm sorry, but it is true.
Also, another thing to consider. THink about your behavior. Do you ever have anger issues? Seriously think about this. If you love your child, then you certainly want to protect it from any harm (even if that means the harm done by angery words or actions). You would look much better in court if you would consider parenting classes or some kind of anger management.
Lastly, as horrible as I think it is for someone to smoke around a child (a form of abuse rarely recognized in court), I doubt that it is enough to grant you custody. If you didn't have the record and history, regardless of how you may have changed, you might would have had a chance at getting custody. It looks pretty bleak now, so take what you can get and do your very best to be a good parent.

First of all, ARE YOU RETARDED!!!!!!! Anger and bad parenting skills are the least of your problems. So you registered BIG FREAKIN WHOOP! No judge in his/her right mind would ever let you near a child again. She smokes cigarettes not crack, and that does not make you a bad person. I have to ask did your parent drop you on your head causing you to lose what little brain matter you were born with? It is not "stubid" that she won't let you see the child, it is a smart move on her part you scum sucking bastard.

I think it is awful that she wont allow you to see your child if you have given her no real reason. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt, that no one else has and thinking that your charges were maybe (I'm hoping) one of those rare cases where the "child" was a girlfriend a couple, few years younger than you not of age according to the law and someone wasn't happy about your sexual relationship. But I must say that her smoking cigarettes is not going to make her an unfit parent and allow you to get custody especially with a child abuse charge and her accusations of your anger problems and lack of parenting skills. If I am wrong about your convictions and you are a sleazy child abusing, sexual pervert, then you have no right to be around any child, even your own.

I do not think your past should keep you from seeing your baby. If the court has a problem with it, they may have you start out with supervised custody.
Some people on here have said that they would not let you see the baby either. If your girlfriend feels that way, she should NOT have had a relationship with you.
You mentioned your parents; the court may consider them as custodians and they could see the grandchild and supervise the visit with you.

Smoking cigarettes is way different than being near a convicted sex offender. I wouldn't allow you near a child either.

i would not let you near my kids either. Especially since you admitted that you have not really changed and that you just want custidy. Thats not fair to the kid. They will give her custidy do to the fact that you are a sex affender, you have not changed, and thats being a bad role model. The fact that she smokes is nothin compared to that. My mom smoked around me and my dad didnt get custidy. Why the heck did you do that to a kid anyways that is so sick!

You were CONVICTED of child abuse, and sex misconduct with a minor? You shouldn't be around children. Honestly, she's right to be worried. Stop fighting her and do what's best for your kid: let her have custody, provide financial support, and recognize that you shouldn't be around children.

You're a convicted sex offender! Your child's mother could be smoking crack, and shooting dope AND YOU STILL wouldn't have a chance in HELL getting custody of that baby!
