i know they don't, but i feel they do. how can i rid myself of this attachment to my neurosis? man...isn't that sick. i'm attached to my dysfunctionality.

Well, they are part of who you are, and for most people, it would be hard to give up a part of themselves. Maybe a way to think about it is that you aren't giving up your neuroses, but that you are just dialling them back a bit so that they don't interfere with your life. At that level, they'll just give you a bit of edge, make you an interesting person. People devoid of any kind of neuroses are a little bit boring, don't you think?

I had to overcome this, too. I had to learn that my illness didn't have me; I have IT! You can eventually work it through if you allow yourself to grieve over finding it out and how it affects your life. Get into therapy; it will work wonders if you take it seriously and try your best.
