I have a female Shih Tsu who is registered with the Continental Kennel Club. I would like to mate her in 5-6 months but have no idea how to find a male Shih Tsu in my area. I live in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. PA. Any help would be much appreciated :)

I have no intentions of getting into the breeding business or making her a show dog. I just want to breed her once because some family and friends would like to have puppies. After that, I plan on having her spayed.

I have never heard of the Continental Kennel Club. The major two reputable kennel clubs in the US are the American Kennel Club and the Canadian Kennel Club.

If you are planning to breed you dog, please have her tested by your vet to confirm that she has no genetic defects that would cause her to have poor quality puppies. These test could also confirm that your dog is actually a pure bred Shih Tzu. Also, please do plenty of reseach. If you are going to breed you dog to make money, I have bad news for you. The costs and time associated with breeding properly doesn't always allow you to even make a profit.

Now that I have scared you, if you are still interested in breeding your dog check with the American Shih Tzu Club. http://www.shihtzu.org/
They can give you some great advice and insite into the breed.

Your dog really isn't registered and may possibly not even be purebred. The Continental Kennel Club is a scam registry. It is a registry started by Mills and BYB in order to register dogs and puppies that can't be registered in a legit registry such as AKC/UKC. The dogs can't be registered because they don't come from registered dogs, don't come from purebred dogs, were really sold on limited registration and spay/neuter agreements with legit registries but the owners chose to breed anyway or because the owner has been suspended from doing business with a legit registry. These types of registries are not worth the paper they are written on and are only a gimic to get unsuspecting people to buy what they think are really registered and/or purebred dogs.
Even if your dog was registered with a legit registry that doesn't mean she should be bred. She would need to either be shown or evaluated to see if she meets breed standard, she needs to be at least 2 years old, she needs to have and pass health tests (not just simple vet exams) she needs an impeccable pedigree.
If you had a legit registered dog of good quality and breeding you would have no problem finding a suitable mate for her. Unfortunately since you don't have a registered dog and the dog was produced by an irresponsible breeding no responsible or ethical person would breed theri male to her.
I would advise getting her spayed (which will be much healthier for her) and simply enjoy her as a wonderful friend and companion. She will be much happier for it and you won't be adding another litter of puppies to the pet over population that's already in the shelters.

Why does every person who buys a pure bred dog feel the need to irresponsibly breed him/her???

There are more than enough Shih Tzu's (and every other breed in the world) languishing in shelters and rescues due to reckless breeding without your help. No responsible show breeder would even consider a female who isn't AKC to begin with. Spay your dog and save her the pain and trauma of being used as a baby making machine. Spaying will protect her from a range of cancers and illnesses that intact females are subject to. Responsible breeders breed to improve the bloodlines, which starts with a long list of health and temperment tests to prove that her bloodline is even worth continuing, attending shows and meeting with breeders to learn more about the breed and what qualities should be bred for (if you had done this, you'd already know how to find a suitable male anyway) and much, much more. Just because you happen to have a female you didn't spay doesn't mean she needs to reproduce.
