I know some really smart beautiful girls who dumb themselves down for men.They act and dress like Paris Hilton but once you see them behind closed doors their one of the smartest people you'll ever meet.They have really good grades and some even come from really good families.They aren't even really slutty or stupid they do that to attract men which I find sad.I knew these girls before they acted trashy and dumb.They were the shy,smart, and beautiful girl in class that the guys would glance at but never date since they were too busy with the trashy girls.So these girls changed their personalities and became trashy as well.The funny thing once they did become trashy guys asked them out constantly.I believe that men especially American men want trashy women because they are intimitated of an intelligent woman.Instead they want someone thats easy to control such as a dumb ditzy trashy girl,as long as you give her money and clothes shes easy to satisfy. I'm not doing this to bash men!

I went through hell in high school wondering about that. I was a smart girl who was pretty shy, I was never asked out. Guys never came close to asking me out. I had a few male friends who liked me, you can usually tell...but they never went all the way to ask. Anyway, I also know the girls who did act trashy, who were always asked out...most of them ended up staying in the same town pregnant. I still think about that, wondering if I had been in high school the way I look and act now that I'm in college, would I have had guys ask me out? Then I realize if I hadn't come through high school the way I am, I might be completely different than I am now. This kind of stuff happens to me in college now too. I have a boyfriend, but there are sometimes you wonder if a guy has the guts to really ask you. Most of the time they don't. You should probably think of it this way... they like you because of who you are, not what you look like. You're more of the "dream girl" image than these girls they're hooking up with. Don't change your personality or looks because of any guy. If they don't ask you because they're intimidated just means it's their loss. Some girls just have such low self esteem that they think the only way is to act stupid. Not sure where they got that idea... Most men are stupid...they go after the easier girl to handle first. When they get tired of that game, some of them go for the intelligent girl. If they don't change, they're probably intimidated because that person is smarter than they are. It's a natural instinct for them, all goes back to being the provider. I don't really think America has rid itself of that stereotypical relationship image. Most men think it should still be like the 1950's. And why wouldn't they? If we had the choice to have a guy who wasn't as intelligent as we were and if he were able to be controlled, some of us would want that. I think most men get out of that stage of wanting the trashy girl, it may just take them awhile to realize they're adults now and they need to change unless they want to be the sole provider of their home. Those who don't change, I think are just intimidated because they have low self-esteem themselves and think of themselves as ignorant. I'm not sure, that's just kind of what I think. I've definitely thought a lot about this kind of thing, it's not easy to put it in words. But if you can kind of figure out what I'm trying to say, then I hope it helps you :)

Many men are uncomfortable with a smart, independent woman. Men like trashy girls, but seldom marry them, they simply use them. You answered your own question, The SMART girls ACT dumb because it gets them what they want. They are given money, clothes, etc. etc. If I had a flat tire I could fix it myself. BUT if I act dumb...there is always a man who will do it for me.

some girls are only smart in school but not in love or shall i say their common sense is not so common.some guys prefer stupid and trashy girls because they can easily decieve those girls.

i have been married to my wife for almost 21 years, and she has never "dumbed" herself down. i would not respect much less marry a dumb girl. so i don't know why anyone would dumb themselves down for someone else.
