Its been said many times, that nothing gives a person a greater sense of purpose than opposition to an enemy. Whether the enemy deserves to be an enemy or knows hes an enemy, is a lesser point.

Go to Islamic chat rooms, and listen to how much dialogue centers around these "enemies".

Its not enough however to simply declare an enemy, like "Satan". Do people really hate Satan and live to fight this "enemy"? No, hes not tanglible. So, while the bible also refers to "enemies" it doesnt put enough flesh on the bone, and thus, doesnt create as powerful a sense of purpose as you will see in the Islamic community.

Heres a Quran aya, that even makes your entire family the enemy!

O ye who believe! Lo! among your wives and your children there are enemies for you, therefor beware of them. And if ye efface and overlook and forgive, then lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. http://cwis.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/064.qmt.html

Anyway, do a Quran word search with "enemies/enemy".

8:17 And yet, [O believers,] it was not you who slew the enemy, [18] but it was God who slew them; and it was not thou who cast [terror into them, O Prophet], when thou didst cast it, but it was God who cast it:

I am not sure what you are trying to say. Of course when enemies are amongst anyone they will have a greater sense of purpose to oppose them. But if you really look at the verse you will notice that Quran actually states that even though there are enemies one should "overlook and forgive, then lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful." So basically Quran gives preference to peace, don't you agree?

1*first verse u qouted:
O you who believe! Indeed among your wives and children there are enemies for you, so beware of them, of obeying them in neglecting [the performance of] good [deeds], such as struggling or emigrating - because the reason why this verse was revealed was [precisely their] obedience [of them] in such [matters]. And if you pardon, them, for their impeding you from such good [deeds], justifying it on account of the distress that parting with you causes them, and overlook [such enmity] and forgive, then assuredly God is Forgiving, Merciful.

i wish u got it what enemies means there

2*You did not slay them, at Badr by your own might, but God slew them, by giving you assistance, and you threw not, O Muhammad (s), [against] the eyes of the [unbelieving] folk, when you threw, the pebbles, for a handful of pebbles thrown by a human being cannot strike the eyes of [every person in] a large troop, but God threw, by making that [throw] reach them. He did this in order to vanquish the disbelievers, and that He might try the believers with a fair test, a [fair] gift, namely, booty; surely God is Hearing, of their sayings, Knowing, of their conditions.

so the second surah is taking about the battle and not in general

can i ask u something!? are u kinda of id**t , u keep on qouting this surah 8 and i answered u many times that it is talking about a battlefield , but u just don't get it ,and i see no relation of what u say,
really pathetic, pathetic!!

bye captain id*8 and thanks for the 2 points.

Look I'm so bored with all this negativity towards Islam.I have realized how easy it is to bash Islam. All you have to do is find some Quraanic verse and quote it out of context.Seriously don't you have something better to do.If you really want to understand the Quraan you should try reading the commentary to those verses you just quoted.Maybe then you might understand!!!

your strange. how can you judge millions of Innocent people WHICH OUR MEN ARE DIEING TO PROTECT on a few men's mistakes? And yes I do not like the KORAN either. It promotes violence against everyone and anyone. but still, innocent people are dieing on BOTH sides, because that's what they are. Innocent. And as for the Koran one thing to say. These people were raised that way. The men to beat their women and children. And women to take it b\c they were taught they didn't deserve any better. that is like telling a Christian they cant pray because their god doesn't exist. its all they've known. So before you hate them for NOT doing something, but b\c of 1 man did, try and look at both sides. NOTE: NO CONDONING FOR ANY WRONG DOING WAS MADE IN THIS LETTER FOR I DON'T AGREE WITH HOW THE KORAN WAS WRITTEN OR SADDAM HUSSEIN

I don't think you've noticed, but you are VERY shortsighted. Surely, you have no idea what your talking about. We all have enimies, and what GOD is saying is that GOD is the one to judge, not US!

idk, but buddhism says that having an enemy is a good thing too.

the only difference is that in buddhism, the purpose of having an enemy is to give you a chance to show your love and compassion. also patience
