I presume it was clear to the brother that it was his sister's juice?
He shouldn't have taken it and he shouldn't shrug it off. He should respect people's things. He should replace the juice and apologize.
Sister feels better/acknowledged, brother has to own up.
And he should be talked to, separately, about the need to respect people's things. As he goes out "into the world" it'll go a lot smoother for him if he does. "Treat others as you want to be treated."
P.S. You could work on your typing and punctuation a bit...

Ahh....blame it on her...did you see what he did.....that's called manipulation.
So if she leaves her purse in sight, it's ok to take anything from it, ehhh? Nah, don't think so. Perhaps he does realize exactly what he does, because he gets away with it ...for 17 years.
So discipline is called for in this case. How about next time, he must buy 2 bottles of juice....and one is marked for her and one is marked for him......so he can't pretend he doesn't know.
There are lots of times sounds like he's going to manipulate others, if you don't stop him....perhaps later he'll tell the police that the grocery store manager should not leave the money available where he could steal it, or the car was there with the keys it it, so it's everyone else's fault but his....poor dear.

maybe an "eye for an eye" type treatment perhaps? Brother drinks sisters juice from fridge, sister drinks brothers soda from the fridge. Seems fair and would get the point across that taking without asking is rude and inconsiderate.

Wow. 17 and acts inconsiderate. If he buys something, have the same thing done to him. Just to teach him a lesson or sit down and talk to him. After all, he is 17. There really isn't much you can do except talk and hope he understands. He is 17.

Personal property is a big deal, and so is respect for other people. You are the parent, and the punishment should be appropriate and fitting for the act. How about finding out something that he buys with his own money, and giving it to his sister? Maybe even just threatening it.

Evey one needs to step in and make a statement toward his actions not just one.
His sister should have let him know right then and there what he did was inconsiderate and disrespectful of her.
Each and every one of you need to confront him. Maybe that will open his eyes.
He is much too old now for petty punishment.

it is only juice for heaven's sake..it's not such a big deal. I am more than sure many people have drank or eaten something of someone's elses before. The brother buys the sis more juice..there is no need to over react over something as small as this.

He should apologize to his sister, buy her more juice plus compensate her in another way. This can be money or doing a part of her chores or relinquishing a cherished item.

Make him pay for the juice & have them seperate their stuff by writing names on it, if they cant learn to act like adults they dont need to be treated like them- maybe get a lock on the fridge & make them wait for you with the key to clear their food...lol :) I have a younger brother who is 18 & he is totally like that, it doesnt matter if it's not his, if its in there- he comsumes every last bit of it! Good luck!
