I read in a well known dog book that sometimes dogs clean their paws because they're overheating so perhaps you could try keeping your dog cool by controlling the temperature in the house, letting them outside for some fresh air and always making water available.

Please don't yell at your dog to stop her from doing this. That's like someone yelling at you for having an itch. I believe if your dog is cleaning her paws a lot, and making them raw, that she is bored and needs something else to do. Either that or she has an allergy. To cure boredom, getting her chewies like bully sticks or rawhides would be good, as well as getting her a Kong (stuff the inside with treats and food), an Amaze-a-Ball, a Busy Buddy - whatever appeals to you. It's smart of you to ask what the problem might be, as obsessive paw-licking can turn into a big problem.

whats soo bad about cleaning them maybe she has a lot of dirt on them??? well anyway id she's cleaning her paws a lot that probably means it's probably hurt look closesly to identify if there is anything stuck in her foot or if she has a cut, also look for if the padding of her paw is raw or worn out or burnt ( from asphalt) also look at her duclaws ( unless you had them cut off) on could have gaught caught on something and torn last but not least look at her fingernails see if there is anything that would be uncomfortable to her ....if you don't see anything after all the inspections maybe she just likes to clean herself ir its getting as bad as to make it raw try giving her a bone and if that doesnt work try to but something that tastes bad but will not harm her to make it stop ( unless you have a dog that eats anythig and everything like my lab..lol)

There is nothing wrong with your dog cleaning her paws. It's a good thing. Why are you worried about it? Just let her be

My dog had a yeast infection between his toes. Moisture gets trapped in there, creating a breeding ground for the yeast. Then when it gets itchy, the dog wants to lick and chew even more, adding more moisture and further promoting an environment for breeding yeast. It's a vicious cycle and one that is hard to clear up sometimes, especially if you already live in a warm, humid environment. A vet can do a swab to see if there's an infection and prescribe a medication to clear it up.

My dog used to do the same thing, i took him to the vet and it turned out to be his diet. It was like a yeast deficiency, i was giving him to much rice and pasta. After i changed his diet, he stopped licking his paws about 2 weeks later. Good luck

First of all, yelling at dogs does nothing. They just get confused and upset because they don't know what's going on. Second of all, her skin may be dry or she may have allergies, and that's why she's cleaning them; or she might just think they're dirty. My lab sucks on his feet all the time; seriously, he'll stick them in his mouth and suck on them for about five minutes straight. The vet said he has allergies (his chin is also dry and itchy). I suggest you just ignore it. If the sound of it is bothering you, put on headphones or leave the room.

Yelling at the dog--does nothing, but make YOU hoarse. Do you bathe your dog often? You could call the vet-maybe there's a reason, medicine...

take her to the vet or give her benadryl...she may have allergies...the dosage for benadryl is 1mg per pound of the dog....so a 25 lb dog is good with a 25mg pill....although you may want to start at half a dose for right now and see how it effects her. Goodluck!!!
