You can buy a Civic or even a New Jetta....but that old ES300 will eat both on the track. She might be 10 yrs old but she is still new even compared to these cheap cars they make today.
That ES300 can take a wall out at 100mph and you will....and I stress WILL walk away from it. You can roll that ES300 and you will walk away from it. No Civic or Yaris can say that.
Even if the miles are over 100,000 or even as high as 150,000 its still a great car. Even with those miles she is worth $5-$10,000. What other car out there is still worth that much with those miles? none! That alone shows how good they are and how well they hold up.
After all its an all aluminum engine...no issues there....a very good, strong, dependable V6 w/ great gas milage....can't beat that....all stainless steal exhaust.....how that saves a ton in repairs. The list can go on and on.
You have stock....leather...REAL redwood trim, top of the line radio system, 6 disc changer, moonroof, airbags, high crash rating frame system, alloy rims, LED gauges.....gee, most charge for such stock items.
Let alone look at how women will look at you......wow...you own a Lexus! Anyone can own a Civic. Don't get me wrong....I have owned a CRX and 8 Accords myself. But nothing comes close to a Lexus...not BMW not even Benz. Lexus is its own class.
There are a ton of sites out there to customize a ES300 as people have woken up to the fact they are more than just a dressed up Camry. My 20 and 18 yr old brothers are both looking to trade in their little hot rods and pick ups to get 96-98 ES300.
I myself am tracking down a GS400 as that is the one I like.

Keep the 1996 Lexus it's a classic beauty. I know because I have one in Pearl White that's the Coach Leather edition and still get compliments on it. I also have a 2005 ES 330 and doesn't compare to the 1996 Lexus because the original is sportier and you could tell the difference between it and the Camry. That is not the case now!

Oh, I agree with dodge man !
Lexus (the brand) has been rated, by J.D. Power & Assoc., number 1 for reliability for 11 straight years.
Unless your 'old already' inheritance has been beat or abused, I would hold on to it & enjoy it for a while.
Don't let a shiney new yaris or civic get the best of your emotions.
Remember "all that glitters,..is not gold"
Ultimately it's your choice, but you DID ask for advice.

Well if your asking your fellow yahooansweres then..personally- if your getting bored than its done because as great and reliable car it is- its kinda plain. Keep it in good condition hopefully if not then your next car youll get tired too, but those newer caers- just think that newer technollgy is cool and they are economy like cars0 but still funkier too if that appeals.
I think I would..but its up to you.
PS: get the cool toyota, or the coupe civic- the 4 door is yuck.!

that choice will be up to you,,i think if it were me id drive it a while and see how good of a car it is, you may be surprised at how good it may be,,and its also payed for,,this is a good sound,,later on id think about selling it,,but if its in good running shape right now,why buy a new one, when your being given one ,that's debt free,,its something to think on anyway,,good luck with your decision.
