Why is the GMC Yukon Denali an all wheel drive vehicle?

Your typical Denali customer is not going to be plowing snow, going off-roading, etc. The AWD system is designed for use over paved roads, dry, wet or snowy.

I guess the designers figured an AWD mechanism would be better suited for this SUV compared to a 4WD setup.
