If the outside door wasn't used very much, they could probably get a print. As for being able to match it to a suspect, they could if the person's prints were already in the system.

A little over 50/50 that they could. Usually though the prints end up belonging to the owner. Other times it ends up being the cops fingerprints.

Been stealing DVDs again, have you? Even if you don't get caught this time, you will get caught later. You will not change the method of stealing that you have found successful. You will only try to eliminate the parts of that method that leave clues behind. But you will make some sort of mistake each time, and eventually get caught. And you will then admit prior crimes as part of what you think is a good plea deal. This is your future.

Printing off a surface like a door is fairly straight forward. Matching them to someone may or may not work, it depends if they are on file in AFIS or any state databases. If they are, you have a suspect. If not, you have to burn some shoe leather.

Quite likely, unless the criminal was wearing gloves, unless it's a screen door or similar. if they touched a solid metal, wood or glass surface that has not been cleaned since, it's very likely the police will be able to get useful prints or even DNA information.

Providing it is not a porous surface it is not to difficult, if you are making reference to a door knob then it is difficult but not impossible. When a person turns a door knob they will usually smear the prints, finger prints are deposited because of the oil in your skin and can easily be smeared.

Probably...definitely. They can do wonders with a fragment of a print. Of course, it depends on how long it has been there so when did you leave it? :-p
