I lived with this awesome girl for 1 1/2 y then one day she disappeared and I was left with this stranger saying she wanted to break up. I am 39yold and I had never been with a person who made me so happy. I wake up thinking of her and I go to sleep thinking of her. We don't speak and the possibility for reconcilliation is neal. What can help me let go?

Every time you start to think about her, force yourself to think about something else. Pamper yourself, do things you like to do that she never did. Make sure all of her personal things she may have left behind are in a box somewhere, out of sight (out of mind), along with any pictures you may have of the two of you, and only look at them if you really feel an urge.

If it's really bad, I've heard that wearing a rubberband on your wrist and snapping yourself every time you think of your lost love helps speed up the process. Basically, you just have to get used to the absence and find other things to fixate on. It sucks and it's terrible, but it's really all you can do to maintain sanity.

I say all of this tongue-in-cheek because my boyfriend, who I have loved for nearly a decade of my meager life, is going into the Navy and doesn't want me to wait for him to get out. Maybe I'll see you on the boat ride. :)

I think that breakups that catch you by surprise are hard to deal with. Based on what you said, you weren't expecting the breakup when it happened. Time is really the only way to get over a broken heart. But it helps if you really concentrate on you. Do the things that you've always wanted to do but never had the time to do......like a hobby. You can take a dance class, painting, yoga..... Eventually you will begin to build a life outside of your girlfriend that you enjoy. Not to mention that you could meet people as well..... Wouldn't jump into another relationship too soon though....dating is okay.....

There is nothing butt time, isn't that a wonderful thing to hear. But it's the truth nothing is going to help you get over her time will just make it seem less like a stab wound to the gut. I give up trying to heal from the guy I love, I just say f(*& it, give in to loving him and trying my best to just move on. Good Luck, a broken heart sucks/

Dear Broken

You need to realize that this girl is not great what great person would not want to spend the rest of their life with you sometimes people change their minds and this is not your fault so take a deep breath and know someday it will work out for you
