If you are talking about the English version, I had one, They are wonderful dogs with kids and people. But VERY HIGH MAINTANANCE. You have to clean the wrinkles on their face, use sensitive shampoo, put vasaline on their noses as they tend to dry out. We loved the dog but very high in upkeep as I stated. Also, they can be costly to get and to care for as they have health problems that can plague them. Do not buy from a puppy mill or a pet store. Adopt an adult if you can or expect to pay a pretty penny for one.The English version does not have a long life span, 11 years is pushing it.
The American I do not know much about but I fear that they will be the next to get the ax by the bad type of people like Pits do due to they are becoming more popular.

I have an american bulldog girl and english bulldog boy. Good points are they are protective and loving towards their owners. Bad points are that they are extremely stubborn and inquisitive to a fault. They are very strong dogs and if you are getting ready to own a bulldog, you should read on them a little, specifically on how to train them properly.
It's not good to end up with a bulldog who rules the house and is completely out of control. I know. Both of mine are like that.
Come to think of it, when my husband walks in, they quiet down and stop being silly.

I just got a English bulldog from a rescue in Missouri on Sunday. His name is Seamus (Shay-muss). He is 5 years young and seems to be a great dog. He is high maintenance seeing as we have already spent $450 on his adoption fees and vet bills in a week. But my husband really wanted one for many years, but we could never afford like 1200 bucks for a puppy. But Seamus seems to be a calm and loving dog who gets along with cats and other dogs. He knows alot more things then he lets on. At first I wasn't sure about him cause he always had a sad face and his tail is kinds sunken in to his butt, so I assumed he would never really show too much emotion. But to my surprise, He shakes his butt when hes happy and excited, and pants alot when he wants attention. So they really have a great disposition! Anyways, yes I do have a English bulldog and I think hes GREAT!

Yes I have an American Bulldog. Good things are they love their family, loyal, protective, and fun to watch in the snow. Bad things- hard headed, demanding of all the attention, no grace, clumsy, And stubborn.

i dont have one but they are very great dogs...loyal, calm, and live a long time.....depending on breed...im talking english not american...i like english better although americans are cute as well. The only real probably with english are skin problems because of the folds in their skin, as well as some knee problems because of their legs. As with most brachiocephalic (means short nosed), they can have breathing issues like snoring...small airways...and are very prone to over heating in hot weather. This may seem like a long list of problems but compared with other breeds this is short. The last thing would be an under bite...the shape of the head isnt really suitable for a perfect set of chompers...so you may notice a few bottom teeth sticking out, but this only adds to the charm of the english. They are great dogs and i would love to own one at some point. Goodluck with your decision!!! Feel free to ask any more questions

Weight usually gets between 45-80lbs...depending on the breeder

bullies are not very hard to place in homes...and many other dogs only give birth to 2 or so pups at a time...its because of the shape of their hips...also, all pure bred dogs are expensive...try a bulldog rescue for great dogs and cheaper money....shelters usually ask for about 50$-250$ while breeders ask for up to 2,000$ for any breed.

Bulldogs can be VERY stubborn and dominant dogs. If properly trained, socialized and handled they're great!

American Bulldogs are the best dogs. The breed has a short muzzle so they overheat easily and can have breathing problems.

Agree with the first answer on the AB's. Have one, love them, and want another.. they are like an addiction! They are good w/ kids, loyal, smart, protective, relatively easy too train. They dont have the breathing issues of their English cousins, and they breed and whelp naturally.

But they are not for everyone, as they tend to be dominate, stubborn, tenacious, and full of energy and drive...

Bad: They have the most risky health plms then any other breeds b/c of their muzzles are short, they have breathing plms, they don't have a very good chance for a home etc etc Also that you will have a hard time finding one b/c they're very expsensive, & they only breed 2 pups.

Good: They're awesome dogs! I would love to one have, but they're expensive
