My dog, casper, is walking around with a stuff animal and whining and wimpering. I tried playing with him but he still does the same thing. I hugged him kissed him on his face and he's still crying. I already fed him. He's attached to all of our family but when my mom is how he follows her and she's on the couch and oddly he's not even with her right now. What's going on with my 10year old West Highland white terrier?

I assume that he's whining and whimpering specifically while he's carrying the toy around? Some dogs just do this, and I can't pretend to think what's going on in their minds when they do it. I would ignore it completely... if you fuss over him when he does it, he'll almost certainly do it more for the attention.

I wouldn't read too much into it, and I wouldn't take is as a sign that you need to 'fix' whatever is 'bothering him'. Some dogs are just very emotional about their "babies". It can be sort of endearing.

Dog thinks the toy is dead. Try takin it away for a day or so. And walk him .... 45 minutes every day.

My dog will do that with a treat she wants to hide. Trying helping him hide it :-)

If this isn't normal,.. he may be sick and trying to tell you.

Has your family, pets, or neighbors changed?

Is he fixed/neutered?
