For example, if you say, "The dog is old. We should have him killed" people wouldn't respond well. So you call it having him "Put to sleep" or "euthanized".

Right now the the soldiers are in the middle of "sectarian violence". Call it a "civil war" and people look at it differently. When it comes to the abortion debate, you got two "pros". You got pro-choice and you got pro-life. The people that oppose the pro-life don't wanna be called "anti-choice" which they really are, because it sounds like they're trying to restrict freedom, which they are. It also implies that those that oppose them are "anti-life" and when you put it that way, no one wants to be associated with that.

You take a suspected terrorist and put him through some "alternative interrogation" and we can deal with it, as long as you don't call the same practices "torture," we're good.

Sounds to me like you are arguing semantics. it is all the same thing no matter what you choose to call it. Yes some of it is sugar coated but that is the truth in the real world.Anyway, I digress...what then is your actual question? I suppose people will accept anything that fits into the nice neat little box they wish to wrap it in. That is true even beyone a religious standpoint so I fail to see which issue you are taking offense to. Please clarify.
