For instance in a show called 'Dead like Me' the actress that protrays the police officer 'Whitly' formerly of an '80's sitcom whom I don't remember the show ..addressed the other actress as a 'cracker'. The actress was ordering food and she said she does not have enough money for food so all she can eat are crackers and cheese, thereby the other actress said, yes a 'cracker' as yourself. Using the stereotypical term for 'white' people?? So why is it acceptable for blacks to using a negative term and if we were to use a term that is describing their race it becomes a whole other issue.

And the actress has a name Jasmine Guy, Well it is probably ok for her to use both words. Since she is a bi-racial or multi-cultural women. However you choose to say it, her mother is a white women and her father is a black man. She can do say what she wants to say. How is that for an answer. And that was a movie, you know Hollywood! I am so tired of seeing this same e question reworded 50 times a day! Get over it already! God bless****

it's not necessarily acceptable for any race to use terms that demean another; to me it's just shows how shallow that individual is. and you as an individual can call someone whatever you like it's called freedom of speech, since your idea of a 'n' is a black person, next time you meet one say hey 'n' nice weather ain't it? esp if it,s raining!

Neither term is acceptable... but remember, many people have suffered greatly, even with their lives, after being called the n-word. It is hateful, as are any terms degrading someone for their "race".

Some people beat their children, some drink and drive, some use hate speech - does that mean that you should do it too?

Here is some important information. You should pay close attention. Movies are not real life. They are fiction. Try to get that straight in your mind.

No one should call anyone else a derrogatory, demeaning name.

Oh just stop it! You are totally splitting hairs and it's beside the point. Don't make matters worse by deciding to focus on a side-bar issue. The important issue is learning to live in harmony with people who are different from us - all of us, pink, purple, plaid and paisley - we have ALL got to learn the h*** how to do it!!!! Your question serves no purpose other than to inflame and divide.

Sorry Im just laughing at the statements abour how white people shoutted the N word when killing blacks and thats why we arent allowed to say it even in jest... how about we white folks get hostile over them calling us any term they use when they're shooting and robbing us in the streets? I dont think when they're about to beat and rob a white man they say "gimme ya money you caucasian!" before they cut or shoot them.

It's called a "double standard".

And by the way, that show was a COMEDY; comedies get away with all sorts of non-PC stuff. Humorous jabs at racism on all sides.

Because Black people didn't lynch thousands upon thousands of Whites while screaming Cracker.

Cracker doesn't have the history of oppression behind it that the n word does.
