Try to quantify it for them (whether they're repaying you or not). I'll bet they don't realize how much money you're putting out to finance their poor budgeting skills:

Itemize the various loans you've made and then give them a total for each individual and a grand total. Then let them know that while you have a helpful spirit, you can't be considered the bank any longer.

And anyone who might still owe you repayment should be cut off immediately. No sob stories accepted - if they don't have the money to pay you back what they owe you, why would you give them more?

You are all working adults, and since you manage to budget your money, offer to help them with tips on how to budget theirs. Remind them that if they were to go to a bank, they'd have to pay interest. Just because the amount is smaller is no reason to take advantage of your good nature.

Put $5.00 in pennies into a glass bowl and leave it on the desk.

Tell them they can have two dollars, but they have to count it out exactly. What this is doing is making it more trouble than its worth, which discourages the freeloading. Pennies don't work in a vending machine, and I'm guessing they go to the vending machine with 2 bucks.

When they look at you like you're crazy, tell them it's a new cubicle policy. They'll get the hint.

It's the "got a penny, give a penny, need a penny, take a penny" policy.

It seems like you've set a path, they ask, you give.. You're getting walked all over.
People hate being rejected.. Play off this without seeming nasty..
When someone asks you for some cash just tell them you didn't bring any. Or you only brought enough for your lunch, transport, etc..
After a while, they will stop asking.

Stop being the "enabler". They see that you are a pushover when it comes to giving so they will take advantage of that.
Just say No that you don't have the $$ to give them. If anyone should question this....it's time to really put your foot down and walk away!

you're right-they are just as capable as you are to plan and save for their expenses.....
a couple bucks isn't a lot of money, but i know i would certainly rather buy a magazine or a cup of coffee every day than donate my two bucks to irresponsible coworkers
you definately need to set a boundary right away....they are taking advantage of you!!

We support you. Say "NO" to them moochers. Say you are making a new Christmas resolution not to give away any money, not even a penny.

Stop carrying cash, or when they ask say, "Sorry, I have no cash on me." Don't let them catch you buying stuff out of the vending machines though! You are not a charity, don't let them treat you like one.

Just flatly refuse....tell them you cant afford it anymore, that you have enough of your own things to pay for.

That would really annoy me, people should look after themselves and not expect everyone else to do it for them.
