FUNNEL CAKES

1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. soda
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
3/4 c. milk
Vegetable oil
2 tsp. powdered sugar
Syrup

Combine dry ingredients. Add egg and milk, beating until smooth.
Heat 1/4 inch oil to 375 degrees in a skillet. Cover bottom opening of funnel with finger (funnel with an opening of at least 3/8 inch works best).

Pour 1/4 cup batter into funnel. Hold funnel over center of skillet. Remove finger from funnel end to release batter into hot oil; move funnel in a slow circular motion to form a spiral or other designs.

For 2 minutes or until golden brown, turning once. Drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with powdered sugar; serve hot with syrup. Makes 6.

I made some in college once. I didnt have all the fancy gadgets and all and I think I bought some pre-packaged mix. It was easy to make albeit did not come out looking the same as on the package but it tasted hella good - the secret is powdered sugar. I was satisfied - but then again I was on that wacky tabbacky.
