What do you talk about with a guy you like?

What kinds of things are there to talk about with this guy that I like? we're really good friends but once in a while there are moments where its really quite and we have nothing to talk about espessially on the phone. What are good conversation starters when things are pretty silent and you need something to talk about. I really like him and we're friends. Also what things are there to talk about so that it kind of hints to him that I like him without actually telling him?
