promethazine(phenergan) is the most come given for nausea/vomiting related to sicknesses(the exception is someone taking chemotherapy and around here they usually prescribe Zofran) I personally like to get the doctor to order topical phenergan since if you're vomiting you won't keep down the pills and the suppositories burn. Most people don't have IV access but even IV route burns, but works fastest.

First and foremost, if you think you are vomiting b/c of something you ate, you really shouldn't try to stop vomiting. If you suspect it's food poisoning, you can really only let it run it's course and try to stay hydrated with gatorade/powerade/etc.
There is a product called Emetrol, that works for some people in some cases, but for the most part I dont think it works for most people. You can also try Cola syrup. Also, this doesn't have much efficacy. Antihistamines (benadryl, meclizine) also work for some people.
There are also prescription only meds (Phenergan, Zofran, etc) that work much better than the over the counter meds. Zofran is mainly used when patients have nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy.
It is very important that you try to keep yourself hydrated. it is recommended that you go to the hospital after 8-12 hours of vomiting, but I would say more like 6, just because I worry about dehydration.

No medicine by mouth, it will come back up. How long have you been vomiting. If this is a long, on going thing, you need something rectally. I don't know of anything over the counter. You would need to see a doctor for a prescription for something like compazine suppository. If this a short term vomiting, try small sips of 7up. and let nature take it's course. Sorry. You could try calling a pharmacy and asking if there is a over-the-counter suppository available for vomiting.

If you are vomiting due to the flu you should let it takes its course. Your body knows what to do and how to rid of a virus. To many times the medical field tries to stop our bodies from doing normal natural things that are truly good for us. We are loosing our natural abilities due to altering. But you do have to becareful you are not loosing too many fluids so try to take down any type of fluids as much as you can, getting things like Gaderade etc is good too. If you are just having uncontrolable vomitting not due to the flu or pregnancy there is a drug you will have to get from your doctor called " Phenergan", there are three ways in taking it oral (if you can keep from vomiting at least 30 - 40min after you take it) if not it can be given by injection or rectol.
This is a good natural way and really does work, buy some prue giner root, mix it in boiling water (only about 1/4 teaspoon) or lemon-lime soda taste better, mix it in and sip it down. They have found it works better for stomach upset and dizziness than store bought products.
good luck and take in those fluids

I am a registered nurse. Phenergan is usually the best. It comes in a pill form, injection, or suppository. You will have to get a prescription for it. Antivert (meclizine), or benadryl sometimes work. I like alternative medicines, so if I can keep anything down, I fix myself a cup or two of ginger tea. Not great tasting but will kick nausea's butt. If you can find pickled ginger (like you get at asian/sushi restaurants) it's good to eat. Hope this helps!!!

None. Once you've vomited, it's too late.
You can eat dry crackers and dry toast, it may help settle your stomach a bit.
The best thing to do is just to keep drinking water. Not massive amounts, just sip it all day to keep from getting dehydrated.
Puking sucks. Feel Better!!

Why are you vomitting? 1. Flu: get some anti'nausea liquid from the drug store. 2. most anything else: take an antihistamine. anti-nausea meds. are antihistamines. A good one is unisom. Just remember, they will most likely make you drowsy, so don't drive.(Nausea is a chemical reaction to the histamine levels in your stomach.)

Phenergan, Reglan or Zofran are prescription medications that may help. Phenergan can be given as a suppository or in a shot if you cannot keep anything down. They also have those little strips that melt in your mouth. If you are dehydrated, you may need to get fluids by IV. If you have chronic nausea, raw ginger may help reduce that sea-sick feeling.

If you are vomiting, you may not be able to keep anything down long enough orally to take effect. You could try over the counter Gravol suppositories via the rectum.
