I weigh just over 200 but my older bike I've ridden for many years never had this problem.

if your riding a cheap walmart bike on rough trails then the wheel is just not strong enough. invest in a better set. if you have a low budget then try these:

they are made by renokned companies and look mad hot.

Once in a while, you get a bike with a bad wheel. It has nothing to do with the brand or price of the bike. You just got unlucky and had this problem. So have I. If you really like the bike, your best bet is to replace the wheel with a new one.

It could be a cheapo wheel, but i doubt that is the real problem. Even cheap wheels are difficut to break if they are set up right, even if you are a total hucker and weigh a huge amount. You just need to keep the spokes tight. Maybe you have not kept them tight, so that when you land, they get shocked and snap.

Had a similar problem with my road bike. A new set of higher quality wheels did the trick.

Depends. Mongoose makes some decent bikes, but they're not the ones you see in Wally World. Those are gas-pipe POS.
