Looking for a simple but delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe. Fool-proof is good :)
And no whacky ingredients, I only have basic stuff.

I haven't got any crisco :( Just margarine, olive oil and canola oil. And no brown sugar, just white and some icing.

I haven't got any baking soda, either. Am I hopeless? lol

At worst, can I put chocolate chips into shortbread cookies?

Hi!!! I have a recipe for good chocolate chunk cookies, but it calls for baking soda... so heres my idea.. try going to http://www.recipezaar.com , search for chocolate chip cookies and then under "Sift by", click "ingredients" and you can list what you have or don't have to find recipes that match. Good luck, I looooove this website... and my husband is a cookie monster so we're always using this site to find recipes.

Provided that you have not purchased the ingredients yet, when you buy the chocolate chips get Nestle' s chocolate chips, there is an awesome recipe on the back of the package that is extremely simple and has few ingredients. My grandma used to make these cookies with me when I was younger and they are still my favorite to this day and they still have the same recipe on the back of the package, so they must be pretty good. One hint, if you like the cookies chewy, just don't bake them as long.

This recipe is for Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies. People are always estatic when I make these. The secret is the Butter Flavor Crisco.

1-1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
3/4 cup Butter Flavor CRISCO all-vegetable shortening or 3/4 Butter Flavor Crisco stick
2 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 egg
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup (6-ounce package) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup pecan pieces (optional)*

Heat oven to 375ºF. Combine brown sugar, Butter Flavor Crisco Shortening, milk and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Beat egg into creamed mixture.
Combine flour, salt and baking soda. Mix into creamed mixture until just blended. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts, if used.
Drop rounded measuring tablespoonfuls of dough 3 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet.
Bake one baking sheet at a time at 375ºF for 8 to 10 minutes for chewy cookies (they will look light and moist), or 11 to 13 minutes for crisp cookies. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheet on a cooling rack; remove cookies to rack to cool completely.

* If nuts are omitted, add an additional 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Chocolate and Peanut Butter Cookies:

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 large egg white
3/4 cup regular oats
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Cooking spray

Preheat oven to 350°.

Lightly spoon all-purpose flour into a dry measuring cup, and level with a knife. Combine flour and 1/2 teaspoon baking powder in a small bowl, stirring well with a whisk. Place the granulated sugar, brown sugar, butter, peanut butter, vanilla extract, and egg white in a large bowl; beat with a mixer at medium speed until well blended (about 2 minutes). Add flour mixture, 3/4 cup oats, 1/2 cup raisins, and 1/2 cup chocolate chips, stirring until ingredients are well combined. Cover and freeze cookie dough for 10 minutes.

Divide cookie dough into 30 equal portions, shaping each one into a ball. Place the dough balls 2 inches apart on baking sheets coated with cooking spray, and flatten dough balls with the bottom of a glass. Bake the dough balls at 350° for 15 minutes. Remove the cookies from pans, and cool completely on wire racks.

Yield: 30 cookies (serving size: 1 cookie)
