Call the salvation army, or the ARC. They will usually come and pick stuff up if it's of value, like a TV & VCR.

I believe that the salvation army would pick it up I am not sure if there would be a charge but they have come and picked up some items we were donating right at our house.

there's a yahoo group called "FreeCycle" and there's probably a group for whatever city you're in. You can post items to give away (everything must be free) or you can post things you want. You can get rid of stuff in the same day to someone in your own town instead of waiting sometimes weeks for that goodwill or salvation army pickup.

http://groups.yahoo.com/search?query=FreeCycle
scroll to the bottom of the page and
just type in your city and the word freecycle

.

Amvets, Purple Heart, St. Vincent DePaul, Catholic Charities...
Or if you just want to get rid of it, put it on Craigslist.com under "free"--just locate your state/city and post it --very simple.
