Munya's sister's dog had chronic ear infections...you need to take the dog to the vet and have them culture the goop and treat it accordingly (if left untreated, the "smelly ears" can turn into deaf ears or worse).
Good luck--goldens are great dogs

My brother's dog had this problem with his Black Lab...it ended up being a wheat allergy. Her ears were STINKY. Try going to your vet with this info or checking into a local pet store to see if they carry something that doesn't have those ingredients. Yes it is a little bit more expensive but in the long run it will save you trips to the Vet and any suffering the dog may get. She still sneaks from floors (his son drops food) and when she does YOU KNOW IT!!!...I wish I knew the name of the food but I know it was Lamb meat basically and her treats affected her the same way so he had to change those! Good Luck....Golden was a WONDERFUL choice I adore them! I had one named Red.

You need to have the vet check them.He could possibly be brewing an inner ear infection. You also may be adding to the problem by over cleaning or using the wrong type of cleaner.

Have you consulted a vet? My golden gets "oily" looking around the ears aevery month and a half (that's how we know she's ready for a bath lol). Your pooch might have an infection. There's not any scent glands near there, so I really don't know what's caused it. Call a vet! Hope that helps

Have the vet check his ears. My Bichonpoo had an overgrowth of hair in her ears that led to an infection and ear mites. The vet plucked the hair out of ears and the groomer keeps the hair plucked and she is fine.

have you spoken to your vet?
cleaning a dog's ears once per week is quite frequent. you may be contributing to the problem. your pup could be suffering from a yeast infection in the ear canal. a situation that is unlikely to be controlled by cleaning. is the problem seasonal? or have you perhaps changed their diet lately? one of our dogs has a wheat allergy and develops similar symptoms when exposed to wheat or wheat products. when she gets a flare-up we treat her with a good otic cleanser (not too much) and then a few "synotic" drops (prescription).
may i suggest two holistic books for dog care? "the holistic guide for a healthy dog" by volhard and brown, another is "new choices in natural healing for dogs and cats" by shojai. lots of practical advice and good descriptions of common problems.
good luck.
