Muslim leader blames women for sex attacks:

-- In the religious address on adultery to about 500 worshippers in Sydney last month, Sheik Hilali said: "If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside on the street, or in the garden or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, and the cats come and eat it ... whose fault is it, the cats or the uncovered meat?

"The uncovered meat is the problem."

The sheik then said: "If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab, no problem would have occurred."

He said women were "weapons" used by "Satan" to control men.

"It is said in the state of zina (adultery), the responsibility falls 90 per cent of the time on the woman. Why? Because she possesses the weapon of enticement (igraa)." http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,20646437-601,00.html

Sheik al-Hilali was the foremost Islamic leader in all of Australia. Fear is, extremists will fill in, for this supposed "moderate". That says it all.

We believe that men were created weak. Women are told to guard what is theirs- meaning our Chastity.

Does the sight of a beautiful woman uncovered arouse a man?
Yes.
But should a man control himself?
Yes.
Unfortunately, men do NOT control themselves.
There are so many rapes that happen all around the world, and most of them go un reported.
To blame a woman directly for this is wrong.
If a man is sick in his mind and heart he will do it no matter what.
All that Sheik al-Hilali was saying is to not provoke the attacks that had been happening in his area. Protect yourselves.
Men act as predators. Dont be the prey.
His words were harsh, but there is some truth to his statement.

I dont believe the responsibility lies 90 percent on the woman.
Men need to control themselves and act above animals.

With all respect to Sheik al-Halali, rapists hardly rape women because of their dress; a woman wearing hijab will be easily raped in a dark street as a bikini-clad model.
When I went shopping last week wearing hijab, many gentlemen said hi and tried to make conversation; today when I walked to work wearing a simple dress and high heels, the men who walked by hardly glanced at me.
Believe it or not, an Islamic-clothed woman gets much more attention than a half dressed woman.

That is a stupid and dangerous question. It is not at all the womens fault, if she is raped based on the clothes that she wears. Any form of justification for rape is dangerous as the sick ****s will see this as a reason for why they can carry on doing this.

As for the Koran, it states that the women should cover their hair, breast, graoin and bum. The hijab is not even nesacary for the religion, it is a choice as to wear it.

To your analogy, do you blame the murderer, or the victim for having such weak flesh. If anyone still blames women for rape, gos eck help, you need it.

God had created male and female to attract each other and continue the generation of human on earth in a legal way (By marriage) Satan will take every opportunity to seduce either male or female to perform adultery. Their intention is to drag human to Hell.

thats scary. it wouldn't surprise me if the guy was from iran, but... australia? you'd think he'd be more enlightened.

"But women depending on their attire can also take some blame."

thats truly disgusting.

EDIT

is anybody completely horrified by the amount of thumbs downs this question has gotten? 6? apparently some manly men out there agree that women who go out in public with less than full-body armour deserve to be raped and have their lives destroyed. i've never been so thankful to be a non-muslim, because if i were muslim i might have to marry one of these compassionate muslim men.

EDIT

affan, i couldn't care less if a guy considers a woman dressed provocatively as a whore. i care that the society this man is representing is so morally degenerate that they actually believe there is an excuse and a reason behind rape, or that rape is somehow justified in ANY circumstance. i care that somewhere out there a girl is crying, and that her religious leader is justifying her rape to the men who did it. i care that their society must have a profound disrespect for both the dignity of humankind (and newsflash, humankind includes women) and of the men of this society who are so intellectually and sexually weak that they can't keep their pants zipped up when they see a bit of ankle.

I wouldn't have thought that anyone here supported that idea in any way. Using the same argument, I could see an ugly dude in the street and gun him to death because "his ugly face made me sick", and I could say that it was his fault for not going around with a veil.

The Sheikh went over board with his description. Men are always to be blamed in the event of rape, PERIOD! But women depending on their attire can also take some blame.

EDIT: JewishGirl according to you my statement: "women depending on their attire can also take some blame" is totally disgusting. Well don't expect guys to see women as their sister when they dress as whores. And I said 'some blame' if they dress real bad, lets kick the feminist in you out and think rationally.

EDIT: JewishGirl like I said men are 'ALWAYS' responsible for their act. So I agree with you that their is no excuse for rape! And unfortunately yes their are men who can't keep their pants zipped up when they see a bit of ankle. They are nothing but filthy animals! But I am giving those women blame who dress really bad (and that is not to say that it lessens any blame from men, they are still 100% responsible)! Men and women are not created same, one has to understand that. Sorry but thats the fact!

There's more out than there is in. Rape is almost impossible to prove under islamic law, so it doesn't actually matter what they wear.
